America Is Still Screwed

For this week's stream we're looking at the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, claims of voter fraud, a Trump campaign post mortem, and general shenanigans. Plus we draw some dragons or something.

On a completely unrelated side note, I've been spending every waking moment watching One Piece. Me and my wife watch like 5-6 episodes a night. Thing is there's like over 900 episodes, and even though it's been three months we're only like halfway through the series. Don't get me wrong it's a great series, but I'd like to watch something else once in a while. Just need to vent to someone.

This shitshow of an election is finally over.

Well, that was fun, wasn't it folks? First off, here's a couple of videos from the last few days talking about the election:

Hot Take: 2020 Election Results Delayed?

Hot Take: Joe Biden Wins!

As of this writing (11am PST on 11/7/20) all of the major networks have called the election, Biden has won. Apparently they were waiting for there to be a lead in Pennsylvania which would put it outside of a recount. Once Biden's lead went over 30,000 votes then by Pennsylvania law a recount is no longer possible. Thing is they could have called this election two days ago once Nevada, Arizona, and Michigan flipped to Biden also.

So I was a little worried that we may be seeing a repeat of the Florida-2000 scenario, where the Republicans managed to stop the recount and basically got the Supreme court to steal the election. Thankfully it doesn't look like there is a possibility of that happening this year. The fear centered over a court case in Pennsylvania in which the Supreme court ordered that all mail in ballots that came in past election day be segregated, in case the court decided to take up the case post election day. However that didn't stop the count. So if this were to go to the Supreme court and those ballots were invalidated, they would literally be throwing out hundreds of thousands of ballots which have already been counted at this point. Somehow I don't think that will happen.

But even if it did happen, that still wouldn't change the outcome of the election, since Biden also won in Nevada, Arizona, and Michigan. In order for the election to get reversed and for Trump to obtain 270 electoral votes, the same would have to happen in all three of those states as well. There's simply no way.

So now we get to look forward to the future, and let's be frank, the future does not look bright. Let's be frank, the country is a complete fucking mess. We have 230,000 people dead due to Covid-19, 20 million people who lost their jobs, millions of people on unemployment, the states running out of money, millions of people getting evicted. We're basically staring down the barrel of a great depression, let alone all the other shit we have to deal with like sever environmental damage, half the country burning down from wildfires, the other half drowning in hurricanes, wide spread protests and riots over systemic institutional racism and police brutality, a growing threat of violent insane right-wing lunatics armed with lethal weapons, and all the other shit our pathetic excuse for a president did fuck-all about in the last four years. If it seems like this country has gone to  hell in a handbasket since 2016 that's because it has. Shit is more fucked up now than it has been in a long time, and it's because we elected the wrong person. Maybe now that we have somebody with half a brain taking over we can finally start to put this country back together.

But please remember, just because a person you agree with politically is now in charge doesn't mean everything automatically goes back to normal. All these problems are still out there. If anything, it means you should fight even harder to get things changed. So keep protesting. Keep on donating your money and time to the causes you believe in. Keep being politically active. Now is the time to push harder than ever.
