You know, Steve Jobs just recently died, and I know whenever an important person like him passes on everyone who used to talk shit suddenly likes to say what a great and important man he was, how he changed the world, blah blah blah blah blah, and so on. Well I don’t know much about Steve Jobs, I’m sure he was a nice person, but that doesn’t change the fact that everything Apple makes is a difficult to use slow-ass piece of shit. I know that he personally didn't design and program every single product Apple has ever put out, but still, the Apple brand just sucks ass.

For example – the Ipad. I had to use one to test a website at work recently. Part of that entails opening up excel, Power Point, and PDF files which can be downloaded from the site. However the ability to open these types of files is not present innately with the Ipad, you have to buy an app for that, which is bullshit but whatever. They have to make money somehow.

Problem number one: Unlike every other pad/laptop/computer type thing in existence, with the Ipad one cannot just go to any website, see a compatible application you like, then download it. You have to go through the goddamned Itunes store in order to buy/download any apps for it. Some people may argue it’s because Apple wants to have control over what is installed on your Ipad for quality reasons, but that’s total horseshit. The real reason they force it this way is so they can make money off of every app you download.

Another thing many people don’t think about, is that if all 3rd party apps must be installed in this manner, then Apple has a record of what everyone has installed on their Ipads, correct? Normally I don’t really give a shit when companies keep these kinds of profiles on me (what are they gonna do, send me targeted advertisements that I’m just going to instantly ignore anyway?) but Apple is just really blatant behind it. Long story short, I don’t like the short leash they have on their customers when it comes to things you are and are not allowed to install on your Ipad/Ipod/Iphone that you paid for with your money. If I own it, then I should be able to fill it with porn and viruses and spyware if I feel like it. It's mine, I can do whatever the fuck I want with it.

So anyway, I open up the Itunes to search for an app, but since the Ipad is owned by my work, it’s not tied to anyone’s account, so I have to enter in my own personal account. That takes fifteen minutes of fanagaling around different menus trying to figure out where exactly I log in for it. After I finally figure that shit out I am now ready to browse through apps.

“Oh look!” I say to myself. “Here’s one that opens up everything I need!”

It’s $39.95.

“Fuck that shit.” I say.

After another half hour of flipping through apps, I find one that opens all of the exports I need for 99 cents. That’s more like it. Now All I need do is purchase and we’re on our way.

Problem Number two: The stupid fucking Itunes store doesn’t accept Paypal for some dumbass reason, credit card only. What the hell Apple? For a company that takes pride in being light-years ahead of the competition it doesn’t make a lot of sense to not have any on-line payment options beyond entering a credit card. Yes I had a credit card, that’s not the point. The point is it’s fucking retarded.

So anyway, I have logged on to Itunes, tied my account to the Ipad (which I hope is reversible, seeing how the pad belongs to my work and not me,) searched for, found, and paid for an app. All of this shit has taken an hour so far. Please keep in mind I’m at work doing all this. So now the app is finally installing. “This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes” I think.

Problem Number three: The piece of shit Ipad can't even install it's own apps correctly. Twenty minutes later, an error message pops up which says to the effect of “Your app has installed incorrectly. Please synch with itunes to complete installation.” What? After twenty minutes of waiting for the shit to download I have to synch it up and do it all over again? “Naw,” I said to myself. “That can’t be it. This has to be some kind of security thing, or something.” So I synch the Ipad up to my computer. Sure enough, something went wrong with the download, and I have to do it all over again.

Another twenty minutes of sitting on my ass waiting for this piece of shit to download ensues. During this time my boss asks how far along I am with the website testing. Thanks a lot Apple. After what seems like an eternity, the app finishes downloading and installing. Finally, and I am ready to test this stupid website.

I download a file to excel.

It doesn’t even fucking work.

Two hours have now passed since I began this little quest to simply download and install an app on this Ipad thing. On my PC, if I want to install something, all I have to do is go to the website where it’s available, download/or purchase the application (of which most of the time if it’s not free to begin with, you can pay with freakin’ paypal,) install the shit, and we’re good to go – ten, fifteen minutes max. For this piece of shit I had to tie my account to the stupid Ipad, search for an app that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, pay with a fucking credit card, wait twenty minutes for the shit to download, then when it fucks up wait another twenty minutes for it to download again, all to find out it doesn’t fucking work in the first place.

Why Apple, why? Why don’t you allow people to just install whatever they want on their Ipads? Why do you force people to use Itunes to install crap? Why don’t you give the option to use Paypal? Why does it fucking take so fucking long to fucking download and fucking install? Why is everything Apple makes such a slow-ass difficult-to-use buggy piece of shit?

God damn, I hate you Apple.

There was a blog I stumbled upon once, where a woman who was a divorced, remarried, bi-polar mother of eight had written a post about how she was going to start limiting the time her ex-husband could spend with thier children unless he started paying more money in child support. I saw this and left a comment, to the effect of "Why don't you discuss this with your ex-husband, instead of using your children as leverage?" I may or may not have called her "dispicable," can't remember. I probably did because people who use children to manipulate others make me sick to my stomach. Anyway other people on the blog came to her defense of course, calling me an asshole and shit like that, no suprise there. But the response I got from the lady herself on my own blog was this:

So what this woman is telling me, is that since I have serveral different websites where I post cartoons and artwork and shit, that this somehow makes me a "child," and since she's a divorced re-married unemployed mother of EIGHT CHILDREN who's contemplating using her children as batering chips to extract more money from her ex-husband, that makes her an "adult."

This little mini-flamewar got me to thinking what "adult" actually means, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm a pretty good "adult" if I do say so myself. I'm employed, I have zero debt, I have no illigitamate children, have never been in prison, am not divorced, seperated, or in any kind of bizzare love triangle, I've never been sued, I have no legal problems, I have no real enemies to speak of, have a decent amount of savings, I'm not an alcoholic or a drug addict, have my own place, my own car, and I owe nothing to anybody because I earned it all myself.

When someone says "Grow up." What exactly is this supposed to mean? What you're actually telling somone when you say this is "I think you are acting in a manner that is immature for your age." Well how exactly is this person acting "childish?" Are they selfish? Mean? Insulting? A total asshole? These don't sound like "childish" behaviors to me. The truth is most people who are "grown up" are simply children in larger bodies. Most people out there, when faced with any kind of moral decision, will usually do whatever it is that benefits themselves regardless of the consequences, and then simply justifiy it to themselves afterwards. People are inherently selfish, and usually only act alturistic when it benefits them in some way. Personally I see nothing wrong with that, it's just human nature after all. But we should not be bullshitting ourselves with this idea that when you "grow up" you suddenly start acting any differently then when you're a child.

What people out there fail to understand is that you create your own problems. Almost any "problem" that can befall you is usually a direct result of your own behavior. True shit happens sometimes, you get some wierd medical problem, you lose your job because of factors outside of your control, you're a victim or some horrible crime or natural disaster, etc. You can't control when things like this happen, but what you can do is control your reaction to them. Most people out there do not understand that if you don't act like an asshole to everyone you meet, then people will do good things for you. If you're not a total raging dickhead whenever you don't get something you want, people in your life will be more likely to help you out when you're in need.

Being a nice person isn't enough though, additionally one needs to purge the sociopthic dickheads from one's existance. Seems like everywhere I go, I'm constantly running into greedy, selfish douchebags, who don't give a fuck about anyone else and just take anything they can get their hands on, and fuck whoever gets in their way. How many "problems" in your life can you trace back to dealing with people like this? We've all had friends or family members who take advantage of us in some ways, but most people are too afraid of "destroying a relationship" to do much about it. Well fuck that, if you're constantly dealing with someone ele's bullshit, then do something about it. Do whatever it takes to remove yourself from this person's disaster area, wether this means moving out of your house, not answering phone calls, changing jobs, whatever. Does this mean you never see or interatct with this person ever again? Not at all. All it means is that when shit hits the fan you don't get any of it on you.

So try it folks. Try not being an asshole to everyone you meet. Try not turing into a flailing penis whenever you don't get what you want. Try to take responsibility when shit in your life gets crazy, and stop blaming everyone else out there for shit that results from your own actions. Try to stop using other people like they're toilet paper to discarded after you're doing wiping your ass on them. Try to, dare I say it, "grow up." Maybe then you won't be writing stupid ass blogs about how no one loves you.

1) Websites that have popup advertisements where the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons are switched around, so when you instinctively select "cancel" it redirects you to the sponsor website. Why do people do this shit? How does this crap even make you money? Like I'm ever going to buy anything from one of these popups. This shit should be illegal.

This also goes for any website that uses popup windows that try to trick you into selecting "Yes," and also sites that have automatic redirects that keep you from using the back button. Fuck any and all sites that do this stupid shit. Anyone caught running a website with this annoying crap should get shot in the face. No trial, no appeals, you just walk in and blow their fucking face off with a shotgun. Fuck those people.

2) People use the exit lane on the freeway to pass other cars: Seems like every single time I ever hit traffic there's one or two morons who are in such a freakin' hurry that they think they're saving two and a half seconds by getting into the exit lane, driving way up ahead at top speed, then slowing us all down again as they have to re-merge onto the freeway. You irrational impatient dumbfucks are just making it worse for the rest of us. It will all go faster if you just stay in your fucking lane. There should be a chip inside of everyone's car that whenever someone tries to do this crap it just makes their car explode.

3) Websites that split up an article into seventeen different pages just to get you to click through them all so they can bombard you with advertisements. Not only do I not ever click on anything or support sites like this in any way, I make it a point to avoid going to them as much as possible. Stop using stupid tricks to get views and work on your damn content you assholes.

4) Dumbasses who post "1st" as the first comment: What is this a fucking contest? Congradufuckinglations on being first you imbecile, your prize is me repeatedly slamming your penis in the front door while your innards are gored out by rabid wolverines on crack. God damn, don't you morons have anything better to do?

5) How a mouse never seems to work right on a Mac: Seems like everytime I'm forced to use a Mac whenever it comes to precise movements the mouse gets all sticky and jumpy. What up folks.

Some of you may have seen a video I made a few weeks ago titled "People who Piss me off: Free Market Anarchists." Apparently I've rubbed somebody's rhubarb so much they've decided to write a big huge long response. They were courteous enough to inform me about it.

I was about to say some naughty things here, but maybe not. Maybe Justin Lee is just being polite and really truly believes in this political philosophy and wants to address what he sees as untruths. I shouldn't judge people so quickly.

Well anyway, let's see what he has to say.

I take it you all read that? Good, here then is my response to his response.

Justin starts off by disagreeing with my definition of a state. In the video I define the state as a hierarchical society with division of labor and a clear authority which arbitrates disputes and maintains order. I mention that the authority historically has been an institution or organization capable of using violence to enforce such order. No where do I say that violence is actually necessary to the definition of the state, merely an observation as to how states have been set up in the past. I am comparing human hierarchical structures here to the same type of hierarchies which exist in a troop of gorillas or chimpanzees, hence the picture of the gorilla at 1:47, and just as the alpha male of a chimpanzee troop uses violence to maintain order so do our societies. The more sophisticated we think we are, the more primitive we remain, eh folks? I suppose I could envision a state that has no capability to use violence to enforce rules or laws. I realistically can't see that state lasting too long, or being a very nice place to live.

In the second paragraph Justin has beef specifically with the fact that I ignored the territorial aspect of a state, that is the idea that a state has to have some sort of territory that it claims as it's own (i.e. you can't be a country without some land.) I notice Justin likes to point out various logical fallacies I made throughout the video, like the Ad hominem attacks I did towards the beginning - which is absolutely true. I called Free Market Anarchists a bunch of arrogant, self centered, idiotic, dogmatic, stupid, stingy, haughty, insolent, cocky, puffed-up, pompous, whining, complaining, know-nothing, superficial, two-faced, cheap-ass hypocritical crybabies who don't give a fuck about anybody but themselves and would kick an old lady in the street to save five cents on a half-eaten welfare donut, and I stand by every word of it. But anyway, I would also like to point out that Justin makes his own logical fallacy here, that of Argument from authority, when he cites Barrack Obama as supporting his own definition of a state. See, now we've both learned how to debate better.

So anyway, I left out territory in my definition of the state. Yes, I did this on purpose, because it then opens up the state to include organizations that fall outside of the city/country/nation-state milieu, such as terrorist organizations, religious institutions, and corporations. Most specifically corporations, for what is a corporation except a kingdom in miniature? I've always wondered why exactly arachno-capitalist people distrust nation states so much but bend over backwards when multinational corporations engage in the same kind of unethical behavior. And yes, corporations are capable of using violence to further their goals and/or enforce order. The scale may be different but the result is the same, and I see no reason why a corporation would not resort to more violent measures to achieve their goals in a world without central governments. What, the Free Market is somehow gonna stop that? Yeah, ok.

A little further on the textbook definition of Anarchy is given, along with the view that "statists" like myself (yeah, I suppose I am a statist) equate anarchy with failed states like Afghanistan. This is true, I did do that - because by the same definition that was provided by Justin himself, that is an anarchist state is a "state with no ruler," then such states can be called "anarchist." No one rules the whole of Afghanistan, Hamid Karazai is essentially the mayor of Kabul. No one rules all of Somalia, there is not much of a central government in Chad. If you want to see modern examples of countries without rulers then these are it. My argument however is that even in these "anarchist" countries, there is some form of authority which enforces rules and order through violence, in this case regional warlords. Why? Because that seems to be the natural state humans beings organize themselves into (see above.) What would be one large stable central state is instead broken up into dozens of little mini-states, all of which enforce their own rules and often times contend with each other through violence. That was the point, that the places on Earth without rulers are ruled anyway, and this would be the real world result of implementing your anarchist paradise. When there are no rulers people fight amongst themselves. I would like to think human beings are evolved enough to rise above this type of tribal warfare, but I would be wrong.

The next paragraph Justin once again maintains that I somewhere said that governments are justified in using violence to maintain power with some freakish ice cream analogy that shows he misunderstands how I used the word "natural." To quote Justin,

"After all, just as a good majority of people naturally like ice cream, I hardly think that would justify “natural hierarchical structures” enforcing the consumption of ice cream."

Nowhere do I imply that if people do things "naturally" then we should force them to do such things. I don't see where I said anywhere in the video it's natural for hierarchal structures to use violence (I said it was a coincidence, not a natural law of human behavior to use violence at 1:38.) But since I've been asked the question, do I think is is in fact, natural? I would have to conclude yes. I can't name very many examples of large societies that don't have some sort of enforcement mechanisim. You may think this contradicts my earlier comparison of corporations as mini-states, but it doesn't. The only reason a corporation doesn't use violent tactics more often is because, most of the time, it can defer to the actions of it's governing nation state. But if you simply think getting rid of a government is going to remove unjust violence in a society then you are sadly naive.

Next the question is asked if governments are needed to shield a society from the actions of corporations, which Justin admits are not always in the public interest. To quote, "However, should the blame rest with corporations or also with their architects (governments) that created them and shield them from accountability?" I agree, the blame does lay with both. It's no secret that all western governments are essentially the enforcement arms of large multinational corporations (especially the American government after eight years of the Bush people letting the corporations write the damn laws and staff the damn regulatory agencies. Thanks a lot assholes.) However the same governments can be a useful tool in curbing the actions of said corporations, especially in cases where the "Free Market" doesn't seem to do very much. Want an example? The National Do not call Registry. I rest my case.

So yes, this is why I posted a picture of Rosa Parks, which Justin pointed out was disobeying segregationist policies enforced by a government. The point is that same government which enforced those racist segregationist laws now enforces laws which do not permit segregation in public life. "The government" was never racist to begin with, it's the people within the government who passed such laws. Now the people in the government (officially) do not permit such behavior in public and most private institutions. Because a government is a tool, and if it's used well you get good results.

The next paragraph I'm afraid is just completely full of shit. First off Justin expresses gratitude that racist government policies like slavery and Jim crow laws have been removed. He fails of course to mention there are now laws on the books against these things. The "Free Market" didn't end Jim crow, people did, by getting together and organizing and marching and demanding and getting shot and dying. And you know slavery, we had that whole thing called the civil war and all, and yes it was actually about slavery for the most part, despite what the conservatives tell you.

This next bullshit about "government preventing wealth creation," just what does that mean exactly? There's a lot of things out there which are highly profitable but are also illegal, so what exactly are you talking about Justin? What are these "creative hustling" enterprises which the poor victims of government forced poverty are prevented from engaging in? DVD piracy? Prostitution? White slavery? Human organ trafficking? Crack dealing? And what is this shit about "government forced poverty?" You make it sound like if a poor person gets a job and makes a little cash the poverty police show up and take it all at gunpoint. What the fuck are you talking about?

Man, as this goes on.. just more and more bullshit.. "Governments are not responsible for ending child labor." Yeah I guess the Fair Labor Standards act didn't really do much. One may argue that child labor was already on the way out by 1938, which is true. This also however ignores the decades long fight against child labor in the United States. It did not just happen because suddenly employers had more wealth to pay breadwinners more, it happened because people fought for it long and hard and finally got it outlawed. Another example of the government stepping up when the free market failed.

Next paragraph, Justin tires to trap me once again with his unfounded ice-cream analogy. Nowhere do I maintain that racism and discrimination is "natural," and nor do I imply in the video at all that a hierarchical structure should use violence to enforce it even if it was. The fact that racism, sexism, and slavery was considered the "natural order" by people in the past is irrelevant. And where exactly in the video did I say the use of violence is "just?" Nowhere. I didn't say it was "just," I observed that it was a "coincidence."

In the next paragraph Justin reinforces my point about child labor. He states governments caused it by enacting "mercantilist and protectionist Robber Baron economic policies." Well, thanks for making my point for me, that is the government is a tool which in this case was used incorrectly to protect the upper class and exploit children. See if the government was instead used to (gasp!) regulate these industries and ensure decent wages and safe working conditions instead of allow regulations to be tailor written by the industries they're supposed to regulate and allow the Rockefellers or JP Morgans of the world to make 150,000 times the salary of their workers then maybe we wouldn't have a century of child exploitation on our history books. You'll notice a lot of parallels between the Guilded age and today if you even pay half of an attention. How long before these assholes are forcing kids out of schools and back into the factories?

Oh wait, it's already fucking happening. Thanks assholes. Kinda blows away your dumbshit contention that the "free market ended child labor" when the fucking conservatives are trying to bring that shit back. Is there not enough wealth today to keep kids in school? Do you really expect me to believe that?

The next five or six paragraphs has something to do with some dude who wrote a book that reinforces some shit that Justin thinks is true, blah blah blah, yeah maybe one day I'll read it but not likely. I'm sure there's all kinds of awesome points that will definitely show me the error of my evil communist treehugger ways but I've already spent way more time on this bullshit than I should have so skip to the end.

The next section titled "Making more Trouble" goes over a couple of points that I made and attempts to repudiate them, so I should address these. God dammit Justin, why you gotta make this shit so long?

1) Food Prices - What I said about food prices is true, that is that we do not have a Laissez-faire policy towards food production, and thankfully Justin acknowledges that. He however does not address the fact that government subsidies are a highly successful policy and consistently lead to higher yields and surpluses to export, but instead chooses to engage in a little Ad hominem attacking of his own. The fact that it could be done more efficiently or that there is less organic agriculture than there should be is irrelevant. What is relevant is that it's an example of a highly successful government policy which wouldn't be half as such if left to the free market.

2) Low wages - In the video I mention that Free Market anarchists blame the government for low wages. Justin responds to this by citing the Wagner act of 1935, which legalized certain unions and curbed some of the more radical like the IWW. I would counter this by saying that this is another example of the tool of government used to the public's advantage. This act which regulated unions lead to a large growth of union membership and large economic benefits for the whole country for decades to come. Even today when a a mere 9% of public workers are unionized, said workers still enjoy a union wage premium of 15 - 20%. So sorry, your big evil government conspiracy to drive down wages actually increased them.

3) Colleges - Ahh, the ol' "College is expensive because the government provides guaranteed loans" line. First off why exactly is it the governments fault for providing the loans, but not the college's fault for jacking up prices? That's like saying McDonalds is responsible for fat people, sorry that's a bullshit argument. If the college jacks up it's prices to match the maximum amount of the loan then the problem lies with the college for taking advantage, not the government. Second the government does not provide 100% of all the financing for every college student in the country. So how come you people never blame Bank of America or Citibank for runaway college tuition? "Oh no we can't blame them, they be private institutions and by my idiotic free market dogma can do no wrong!" Third most states actually run their own university systems, so if you morons truly want to eliminate all government assistance to colleges then kiss the UC, State, and Community colleges nationwide goodbye. No, you can not have it both ways. Yeah it'll be real easy to get a higher education when the only colleges left are prohibitively expensive ivy league schools or dumbshit Christian diploma mills. Fuck college, who needs it anyway? We're all gonna be too busy working alongside twelve year olds in a sweatshop for 17 hours a day making tennis shoes for you assholes to prance around your free market paradise exclaiming how great it is that no government exists to "steal" taxes from you.

4) Environmental conservation - I'm not really sure how relevant environmental regulations in the 19th century are to the discussion today, as most of what we have couldn't be handled in such a fashion. Example: A local town outlaws a company from dumping toxic waste in their river, so said company just moves upstream and makes a deal with another town to legally dump it in their portion of the river. The river ends up polluted for everyone. What's the first town gonna do, sue them? Would be nice except there is no court system - don't forget, you people got rid of the government. So now what? Declare war on the polluters?

This would be funny if it weren't actually happening.

5) Drug safety - Justin puts forward the argument that a drug like crack (because that's the drug I mention in the video) would in fact be more safe if the government did not outlaw it. Well, it would be safer in the respect that people would not be shooting each other over it, so I agree to that much.

You know what would make it even safer? If it were regulated by the FDA as to purity, potency, and usage. That would make it a lot safer then just letting any random yahoo sell the shit on the streets.

6) Terrorism - For the most part, governments tend to use terrorists as a tool to indirectly achieve political aims, however they can also be as much victims of terrorists as enablers. My point is that our government was on 9-11 (hence the picture of Osama) just as much a victim of terrorism as anyone else. Is every single terrorist act out there the direct result of government meddling? No. A lot of the stuff that I'm seeing above tends to be of the government "enabling" said problems. Well when exactly does it stop becoming the CIA's fault and start becoming Mohammed Atta's fault for crashing the plane into the World Trade Center? Never?

Alright, it's already almost midnight, and I have to work in the morning. There's lots of more herping and derping about important sounding shit as well as attempts to make me look stupid, most of which is bullshit. The last point Justin makes is that Public goods become harder to achieve with a government in place. I would agree except there is very little precedent for any type of public good ever being developed by the private sector ever in the history of mankind. I can't really think of very much of our infrastructure which is wholly and has always been privately owned from it's inception. Pretty much all of it had public funding or government involvement at some point - the roads, the railroads, the television networks, the phone system, the internet, the hospitals, the schools, the national parks, the telecommunications industry, and so on. Is there really any public good we have today that is not the result of government spending to some degree? There has to be something.

Nevermind the fact that if a private company creates it, then it's not exactly "public" then, is it? Imagine a road where only people who own Chryslers are allowed to drive upon, or a nationwide intranet system that only users of a certain operating system can access. That is what a "public" good looks like when a private company makes it. And like I asked in the video, why should they create public infrastructure, if they're not solely allowed to profit from it? What's in it for them?

Am I saying that everything should be run by the government? No. What I am saying though is that Free Market Anarchists tend to forget that there is no such thing as a free market. All markets are manipulated in some way, always have been and always will be. The idea that all these problems will go away if we just get rid of governments is, to be frank, fucking idiotic. People do not do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, most people do what they feel they can get away with. Yeah maybe in a perfect universe where unicorns fart rainbows and marijuana jellybeans fall from the sky I could envision a world without governments that isn't a total post apocalyptic Roadwarrior-esque cluster fuck, so please come get me when that happens.

Longtime readers of this blog may have figured out by now that I'm about as liberal as one can get, so it makes sense that the conservatives would piss me off a bit, being my arch enemies and all. The thing is they don't piss me off because of anything they say they believe or stand for. What pisses me off is that conservatives tend to be hypocritical purposely uninformed dipshits who do not hold their own leaders accountable and blame everything on Liberals.

Conservatives love to talk about the issues - fiscal responsibility, family values, a strong military, low taxes, small government, and so on. The problem is they only people they insist uphold these issues are Liberals. They use these issues as a club to yell at the opposing side, but when the people they themselves vote for get into power and do the exact fucking opposite of what the conservative stance is they lie to themselves and pretend it's not happening. When Bush was elected we had a 500 billion dollar surplus. One gigantic tax cut and two unfunded wars later the deficit is now 1.3 trillion dollars and rising. The national debt went from 5.6 trillion to 9.9 trillion dollars during his tenure. Yet while all this was going on the conservatives didn't say a goddamned thing. But when a Democrat gets into office suddenly the conservatives remember they're supposed to be "fiscally responsible." Now they won't pass anything that adds to the deficit. L ike Dick Cheney says, "Deficits do not matter" - unless you're not a conservative.

Yet when we're talking about deficits, the conservatives in congress refuse to extend the tax cuts for 98% of us without also extending it for the rich 2% of Americans, even though this will add 700 billion dollars to the debt. They are not doing this because it's good for the country, they are doing it because they want Obama to fail. Do you think the conservative voters out there give a shit that their party is screwing the middle class and doing the exact fucking opposite of what it stands for? Hell no. Why? Because they are fucking hypocrites.

What about this health care bullshit over this past summer? You conservative assholes were out screaming and yelling because it'll "cost too much?" Where were you hypocritical fucks with your dumbshit signs when Bush's trillion dollar medicare rip-off was passed at three in the morning?

Conservatives talk a lot of crap about "values," but in real life these idiotic flailing buckets of rodent assholes do not give a shit about upholding said values and routinely turn a blind eye when their leaders go against such values. When was the last time Fox news or Rush Limbaugh called for the impeachment of a conservative Republican? Do they ever even say anything negative about any of them whatsoever? Speaking of Limbaugh, conservatives are always bitching and moaning about drug use and voting down legalization or imposing draconian prison sentences, yet when that fat piece of shit got busted with oxycontin none of the conservatives said a damn thing. Why? Because he is one of them, that's why, and they do not hold themselves to the same dumbfuck standard they impose on everyone else.

You might hear them give the occasional slight to someone like Ron Paul - because the man actually has integrity. But anyone else? They'll support anyone as long as they fit the tax-cuts-for-the-rich agenda, no matter who they are or how idiotic batshit crazy insane they are. These motherfuckers voted for Sarah Palin - not because she was smarter, not because she was more qualified, or stood for family values, all of which it's been demonstrated again and again she didn't. They voted for her because they'd rather put a clueless idiot in charge of the most powerful and important nation on Earth rather than someone with a "D" in front of their name. What about Christine O'Donnell? How many of you conservative dumbasses out there voted for that train wreak, even though she was clearly the inferior choice? Michelle Bachman? How many batshit insane things does this woman have to say before people stop voting for her? Tea-party candidate Rick Scott got busted in 1997 for defrauding Medicare - guilty, fined, the whole deal - but the fiscal conservatives REWARDED him by electing him Governor of Florida. Those ASSHOLES ELECTED A FUCKING CRIMINAL! Why? Because he's ONE OF THEM! And conservatives give other conservatives a free fucking pass on criminal records, because they are brainwashed hypocritical dumbasses that do not hold each other accountable and never, ever, ever, ever, ever take responsibility for anything.

That's what it's all about with these fucking yahoos - not what's best for the country, not what needs to be done, but "US" vs. "THEM." And "US" to these people is anyone who has an "R" in front of their name no matter how crazy, idiotic, backward, racist, ignorant, or downright criminal that person is. Conservatives have shown over and over and over that they do not think for themselves. They are incapable of forming their own opinions about anything and they repeatedly vote against their own interests over and over and over again. Lately I've been seeing a lot of those "It gets better" videos that people are making in an effort to stop gay kids from killing themselves because they're being bullied at school and everything. Well kids, I'm sorry to break this to you, but it doesn't get better simply because you grow up and become an adult. When you're a kid everyone has to deal with bullies. We all have something that other people will make fun of us for, whether you're too fat, too skinny, your nose is too big, you have funny hair, you dress weird, whatever. It happens to everyone. But these people telling you it gets better automatically because you graduate high school, that's a load of shit.

The truth is kids you will have to put up with bullies your entire life. What you're going to find is the same briandead douche bags who are fucking with you in the halls now become cops, nightclub bouncers, the guy who tried to steal your car stereo, the asshole neighbor, lazy-ass manipulative co-workers, and your boss. True you won't get people picking on you on a daily basis like in high school, but bullies are not simply those who are bigger and stronger than you. A bully is anyone who attempts to unfairly take advantage of their position to force you into doing things you don't want.

You have two choices when dealing with such people - you can either fight, or run. The natural instinct is to run, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some stupid piece of shit starts fucking with you, he's bigger than you and you don't think you can take him? Then run. Fuck it, who cares. Ain't no shame in not getting your ass beat.

But running only gets you so far. Whenever you run it's a green light for the bully to just come back and fuck with you all over again. Sooner or later, if you want people to stop messing with you then you're going to have to confront them, you will have to fight. If you choose to fight then you need to remember a few things:

1) Fighting is always a choice. Might be a shitty choice, but it's still a choice. If you choose to fight be ready to take the consequences.

1) In real life there is no such thing as a fair fight. This applies whether you have a physical confrontation, an argument with a co-worker, conflicts between nations, whatever.

2) Only fight battles to your advantage. If you choose to confront, then only do it at a place and time of your choosing, and only when you know you will win. Never let some fool goad you into fighting on his terms. This doesn't matter if it's some jock dipshit dunking you upside down into a toilet or some asshole threatening you for a lawsuit if you don't pay him off, choose your battles and only confront when the odds are stacked in your favor.

In the first Gulf War While the Iraqis were retreating from Kuwait, the United States air force flew ahead and dropped a shitload of cluster bombs on the 2-lane highway that leads from Kuwait to Baghdad. The Iraqi army tried to go around and got bogged down in the sand. Pretty soon there was a five mile traffic jam of Iraqi tanks, trucks, and jeeps all stuck in the sand, which were all promptly annihilated to fuck by American bombers. Was that a fair fight? Hell no it wasn't fair - but which side lost 26,000 troops, and which side lost 145? The same principle holds true in every single conflict. Do wolves attack the alpha male 500 lb elk? Or do they go after the old and sick animals in the herd? Does the bully go up and start fucking with the 250 lb football player? Or does he pick on kids smaller than him?

What does this mean to you? It means if and when you fight back, do so only when you choose to, when conditions are overwhelmingly in your favor, and when you know you're going to win, with any and every advantage you can get. So is some shit eating dickhead threatening to beat you up? Don't challenge him to meet you after school at the flagpole where you'll get your ass kicked. Get five of your friends, catch him walking home when none of his buddies can help him, gang up and beat his ass down. Is that fair? Hell no. But there ain't no such thing as a fair fight.

These principles don't just apply to physical altercations. You're going to find that many of the people causing you grief later in life don't threaten you physically but do so in other ways. Let me give you a real life example of a conflict that happened to me not that long ago.

There was a girl we hired a few years ago which turned out to be a bad decision. I currently work in the applications development department of a fortune 500 company (which shall remain nameless.) The work we do is boring but not difficult. This girl started out rather well but after she realized how trusting the work environment is at this place her work habits quickly deteriorated.

She would be out for two or three days a week, usually on Mondays and Fridays. One month she had eight "sick" days. When she was in the office she'd spend the whole day on Facebook or fucking around on the Internet instead of working. Half the time she wouldn't do things correctly as she wouldn't bother reading emails. When I would try give instructions she'd respond with very snarky remarks and major attitude. The developers started requesting to not have her on their projects, one guy even said she was "wasting my time." Eventually it hit the point where she wouldn't even bother to respond to emails, would ignore instant messages, and would even flat out refuse to do things when asked and act very rudely when pressed. The result of this is that other people in my group had to work harder to cover for the dead weight we were dragging. Many days I personally stayed late to complete shit she didn't do right as she left early or didn't come in at all. I butted heads with this girl on more than one occasion, because I like the people under me to like, actually do work once in a while. During one of these arguments she made a not-so subtle hint that if I didn't back off she was going to accuse me of sexual harassment. That's right folks, it was a threat - "Let me do whatever I want or I'll get you fired." She was using her position to unfairly get concessions. She was a bully.

The problem is even the accusation of such a thing has the potential to ruin someone's career. For a man in today's climate there is really no defense against such accusations. I'd be fired right away and not have much recourse beyond hiring a lawyer I can't afford, and even then I'd have this bogus charge on my record following me around to every other job I'd try to get in the future. It doesn't matter if the charge was a complete fabrication (which it was,) it would come down to my word against hers, and in any giant megaconglomerate that's more afraid of bad PR then firing the wrong person (such as what I work for) her word would win automatically. That's not a negative judgement against politically correct sexual harassment policies, it's just how it is. So I did what anyone afraid of losing their job would do - I put up with it - I ran away from the conflict.

But like I said before, running only gets you so far. The girl continued her lazy work habits, crappy attitude, and chronic absenteeism, with me having to cover for her and constantly getting fucked over from her shitty work output on a daily basis. One day I was required to ask her to do some work. As I knew even simply asking her to do it was going to degenerate into an argument (which it always did at this point,) I made sure to get the conversation in an instant message log. Sure enough she started throwing a fit, responding rudely, outright telling me to "Quit bothering her," and so on. (Please keep in mind I'm supposed to be this girl's supervisor.) I made sure to respond as professionally and politely as I could during the conversation, saved it, and showed it to my boss. This got her kicked off my unit so I wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. And wouldn't you know it, without someone she could manipulate to cover for her bad work habits (and no one to threaten with phony sexual harassment charges, my boss being a woman and all) she couldn't maintain the illusion of productivity and within six months got herself fired. I had no input or influence in that decision. All I did was to remove myself from having to deal with her bullshit, the rest was her fault. I fought back, but I did it the right way.

I'll give another example. When I was in grade school there was a kid named Harley. Harley was smaller than me physically but that didn't stop him from fucking with me - making fun of me, throwing spitballs, crap like that. Like any self respecting male I threatened to kick Harley's ass if he didn't knock it off, as I was clearly capable of doing so. What did Harley do? He waited until parent-teacher night and called me out in right in front of my parents, stood there and dared me to do something. I wanted to attack him so bad but my fear of my mom and dad held me back. Harley successfully used an advantage and won the conflict. I learned a valuable lesson that day, never fight unless you choose the time and place.

I've also been hearing people talking a lot about what exactly causes such behavior, and why it's such a prevalent thing nowadays. Give me a break people - it's not like the concept of "Bullies" is a new fucking thing. It's only part of normal human behavior that's been around since the beginning of time. And honestly, who really gives a shit why a bully acts the way he does? Is he insecure? Have a bad family life? Is he bullied himself? Who really out there fucking cares? That's shit for psychologists to figure out, in real life it really doesn't matter why people act the way they do, only how they act and how you deal with it. The motivation as to why some asshole is fucking with you is irrelevant, the only thing that is relevant is what you're gonna do about it.

That's the way of the world folks - those with the ability tend to always take advantage of those who don't, it's the same if we're talking about arguments, economics, war, politics, commerce, or kids getting hassled in the lunch room. Learn how to deal with it. Do not have dealings with people who act in such a manner, and if for one reason or another you can't do that, then FIGHT BACK. But fight back smart.

Because seriously, fuck these people.

Libertarianism is a load of crap

Lately over the last year or so we've been hearing a lot about Libertarianism in the media, most notably from Ron and Rand Paul, who take a libertarian stance on many social issues. All this idiotic teabagger bullshit started when Ron Paul ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, and thus a lot of the Tea Party people identify themselves as "libertarian." In real life they are merely re-branded conservatives, but that's not what we're talking about here.

According to Wikipedia, the Libertarian party of the United states asserts this to be the core belief of Libertarianism:

"Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties."

Let's take a look exactly at what this all means. We always hear people on the right talking about "smaller government," but what exactly do they mean by this? Well to people like Rand Paul, "Smaller government" means cutting any and all entitlement, social assistance, or welfare programs. That means no Medicare or Medicaid, no food stamps, no unemployment, nothing. Even a program like Social Security, where people pay into a pool over dozens of years and don't take benefits until a certain age, even this is too much government involvement. If the libertarians get in charge you can kiss any kind of help from Uncle Sam goodbye.

The elimination of any and all types of social assistance is however consistent with libertarian philosophy, which is more than most political movements can claim. Libertarian philosophy asserts that people are only responsible for themselves and their immediate family, they completely reject any notion that the individual should contribute to a larger society or should take advantage of the benefits of such a society. This is why you see the followers of Rand Paul talk so much about "States Rights"and the 10th amendment. In fact recently there's been a growing movement of "Tenthers" splintering off from the Teabagger people who are attempting to use the 10th amendment to do things like reverse the health care bill. This is great provided you are a reasonably healthy individual capable of finding work and taking care of yourself - but In real life there are millions of people out there who are not, for one reason or another, often times though no fault of their own.

The problems that our nation faces seem more and more stem from the exact policies which the conservative forces in our government have enacted over the last 30 year - deregulating banking, removing environmental restrictions, cutting taxes on the wealthy, and so on. Stripping away the social safety net and removing worker protections is the exact opposite of what needs to be done in order to preserve our middle class and general American prosperity.

Libertarianism is also an inadequate and ineffectual philosophy when dealing with modern nation states. We live in an era where for good or ill nation states tend to cooperate economically and militarily, where capital is not restricted by international borders, where people born half a world a way have the ability to travel and settle long distances, Where the resource rich areas of the globe are also some of the most backward and war torn, usually as a result of extracting said resources for Western consumption, where small groups of determined individuals are capable of causing mass destruction unlike any other time in history. It is increasingly apparent that it is in our best interest to work towards stability in some of the more vital areas of the world. When people in South America have jobs, people in Africa are fed, when Pakistan has a stable government, or Nuclear weapons are restricted from North Korea we benefit as well. The Libertarian isolationist world view of an America with closed borders, no international aid, and zero involvement in world affairs except to drop bombs on people who directly threaten us is a recipe for disaster. America cannot economically, politically, socially, and militarily afford an isolationist policy. Globalization is here to stay, for good or ill, there is no going back.

The Libertarian tirade against "government control" ignores the inherent flaw with a profit-driven model. An entity which puts profits over the well being of people should not be allowed to control such vital sectors of society without stringent oversight. Over the past decade due to such policies we've seen companies such as Enron and Worldcom fold and take the retirements savings of their workers with them, we've seen banks and investment firms build up and pop bubble after bubble - Tech stocks, oil, wheat futures, - finally accumulating in the collapse of the housing market which nearly took our entire economy with it. All of this occurred because of a LACK of regulation, not TOO MUCH OF IT.

Those countries which are most successful in regards to keeping their people healthy, educated, safe, and employed use a mixture of socialized industries along with capital entrepreneurship. In general, those sectors of the economy which benefit the citizen directly tend to be socialized - health care, medicine, law enforcement, fire, military, Utilities such as water, electricity, etc. The exact mixture to get the maximum benefit yet retain the greatest amount of liberty I think has yet to be determined. Maybe we don't need 100% socialized medicine. Maybe it's good to let certain industries take risks without restrictions. But the fact remains we are all part of a larger society, and in order to keep that society working we are obligated to contribute. The Libertarian ideal of "I'm not sharing" may work great on a neighborhood level, but when taken into a national context is highly immature and practically unworkable.

My encounter with a Teabagger.

Today while at lunch I had a short encounter with some people who were petitioning to repeal the heath care bill. Below is pretty much how the encounter went.

I went into a Ralph's to get some batteries, but the long line at checkout made me think twice about it. As I was leaving, I was approached by an older woman holding a clipboard. She looked to be in her late 50s or early 60s. I could tell however she was from out of town by the way she was dressed, as I was in a somewhat affluent area and she looked like she should slinging beers in some hick-ass biker bar in the middle of the desert somewhere. If I had to guess I would say she's from a more working class area of Ventrua or Oxnard. Most people don't really know that the outlying cities and suburbs around Los Angeles are as full of rednecks as any Southern State.

There was a younger man with her, who dressed in similar manner to how I would have ten years ago if I were jock douchebag. He was scruffy and had a large snake tattoo that covered the underside of his forearm from the elbow to his hand. It was one of those cheap tattoos, the kind you get in prison. He was around that age where one finally decides to (or is forced to) stop fucking around and get a real job, but does not yet have a clue as to how to actually go about that. He looked like he could be this lady's son. By the way they were dressed and how they carried themselves I would say they were one generation away from trailer trash. Ventura county has a lot of that also.

She approached and asked me politely if I were a registered voter. She had a slight southern accent, the kind that people get when they grow up in some shitkicker town in the middle of nowhere and that never really goes away even though they moved to the big city twenty years ago. As I walked towards my car the lady kept with me. She asked if I would like to sign a petition to repeal the health care bill. This is when the encounter got interesting.

Old Lady: "Would you like to sign a petition to repeal Obamacare?"

Me: "Well, you see, my grandmother has muscular dystrophy - "

Old Lady: "Ohhh! I'm sorry!" (touches my arm)"If you sign here we can give her some information-"

Me: "Yeah well she's never had insurance -"

Old Lady: (flipping pages on her clipboard) "Well this will make is so she doesn't have to get insurance she doesn't want."

Me: "No I mean her entire life, no one would sell her insurance. She never had coverage until she got Medicare."

Old Lady: "I see."

Me: "So this law will stop that kind of denial of coverage, so that's why I support it. Sorry."

Old Lady: "Well see the problem is you're forced to buy insurance you don't want! You don't get to choose your doctor!"

Me: "What? Since when?"

She flipped open the clipboard to a page that had some talking points conveniently highlighted in yellow.

Old Lady: "Obamacare will force people to buy insurance they don't want! I mean, I'm 62, I need a job! I can't afford to pay $400 a month for insurance!"

"You have a job, bitch." I thought to myself, unless she's doing this shit for free. Keep in mind, she's 62 so she'll qualify for medicare in three years anyway. In the meantime she wants to pass a law that prevents the rest of us from getting coverage, just so she can save a few bucks in the short term. Thanks a fucking lot lady.

Me: "Well they make allowances for that."

Old Lady: "No they don't, if you don't pay it you get fined!"

Me: "No in the bill, they have assistance for people with lower incomes."

Old Lady: "But you don't get to choose your own doctor!"

Me: "That has nothing to do with it, it doesn't force you into a specific plan, it sets up an exchange."

Old Lady: "What?"

Me: "It sets up an exchange, so you can choose which plan one you want, it doesn't force you to buy anything."

Old Lady: "But if you don't buy it you get fined."

Me: "The fine comes out of your taxes, correct?"

A glazed look came over her face. It was pretty obvious at this point that this old lady really didn't know what was in the health care bill, didn't know about the exchange or how it worked, and didn't even really know what the "fine" was all about, how much it was, or if it came out of your taxes or what. I like to call this the "Ignorance horizon," that is the point at which, when talking to conservatives in real life, they become incapable of carrying on the conversation because they do not have any memorized talking points to respond with. This happens much more quickly in real life than say on the internet, where they can simply go back to Freedomwerks or Glennbeck.com or whatever backwards-ass idiotic misleading propaganda site they get their bullshit from and look up how to respond. In a real life conversation there ain't no internet, and most people when they cross the Ignorance Horizon will either clam up, change the subject, or start making up stupid bullshit in order to save face.

True to form, the old lady decided to change the subject.

Old Lady: "Well, whether you support this or not, you're a registered voter, correct?"

Me: "Yeah."

Old Lady: "Are you registered for an absentee ballot?"

Me: "What?"

Old Lady: "It's so they send the ballot and information to your house."

Every election I hear of different stories of various dirty tricks pulled by either party in order to knock people off the voting rolls. For instance, in 2008 it was found that a bunch of college kids who thought they were signing a petition to legalize weed were in fact being registered Republican without their knowledge, and as a consequence when the election rolled around they were unable to vote in the primaries. Although I had no reason to suspect any dubious motives on the behalf of this highly motivated (but dreadfully uninformed) petitioner, there is always a chance she was merely a unwitting tool in a grander scheme. I decided not to chance it.

Me: "Nah I just go down and vote."

Old Lady: "Well if you sign up here we can send this information to your house and you can discuss it with your grandmother-"

Me: "Why would she want to vote against the health care law? She's never had coverage in her life."

Old Lady: "Well they'll send the ballot to your house. You have to do it through the mail."

Me: "No thank you."

I can tell she was disappointed, I bet she probably was paid depending on how many people she registered. Well I hope she makes her quota or whatever for her sake. The thing is, this is the kind of person that the health care bill will unequivocally help. As an unemployed person she would get essentially free health care, as anyone who makes less than 133% of the federal poverty line can be enrolled in an expanded Medicare program. There are subsidies for people who make up to four times the federal poverty line (about $44,000 a year, which includes me) so that no one has to spend more than 10% of their income on insurance premiums. The fine this lady is so afraid of comes to $695 a person (or maxes out at $2085 per family) so that even if you do not decide to buy insurance it still costs less than the price of the insurance itself. To top it all off all this shit isn't even going to happen for another four years.

So why, exactly, do people want to repeal this law, even before it comes into effect? What the fuck are people so afraid of? I can tell you what the conservatives are afraid of: That when this law does come into effect and people do start buying insurance and they can't get denied or kicked off when they get sick, they're afraid people will like it.

I simply do not understand how exactly anyone thinks it's a good idea to pay a bill to a company for years and years, and then when the time comes that you actually need to utilize the service you've been paying for, they suddenly turn around and drop you like a bad habit. How exactly is that "fair?" How is that "the best system in the world?" Why exactly would anyone want to go back to that? The story there with my grandmother is true shit - she hasn't been able to walk for fifty years. And the entire time she's had this disease she had never ever had health insurance. Not becasue they could not afford it, but because NO ONE WOULD SELL IT TO HER. My grandfather refused to buy it for the rest of the family if they wouldn't cover my grandmother, so he told them all to go fuck themselves, and for decades they all did without. She never got coverage until she turned 65, and suddenly was eligible for medicare. A good example of Uncle Sam stepping in when the private sector was unwilling.

And seriously, if it's good enough for her, then why not for the rest of us? Why should I even bother paying a private company to provide something the government can and already does provide for millions of people? Why do I not have the choice, if I want to, to enroll in a government plan and just have the price of the premiums come out of my taxes? Seems like it would make things a hell of a lot easier if the cost of all this shit just came out of my taxes automatically instead of me just having to pay a bill every month wouldn't you say? I already pay for medicare, do I not?

That I think is the final reason why I support "Obamacare," because after a few years of it people may be ready to take the next step, into a European style single payer system - you know, like how every single other industrialized nation on the face of the Earth has. Even fucking Mexico has better coverage than we do. Isn't it time we, as a country, finally took responsibility for the well being of our people? I know the conservatives won't like that, because conservatives never take responsibility for anything.

A response to some of the less trollish questions and comments I've been getting lately:

1) All people are racists, just those who aren't blatant are "in the closet" about it. - This is like a defense mechanism that otherwise decent people with mildly racist tendencies tell themselves to not feel bad. Truth is it's bullshit, you cannot assume that everyone has the same outdated 18th century ideas about race and entitlement that you do.

2) Affirmative action programs are inherently racist, and that makes me a racist for supporting them. - The problem here is that disparities drawn along racial lines do exist in our society, it's naive to think they don't. Using college admittance as an example, rich people with bad grades seem to have no problem getting into prestigious schools without much of a problem, while poor people with great grades do not. Affirmative action type programs may not be the best solution, but until we come up with a better way to even the playing field it's all we have.

3) All races are different, and thus should not be treated equally. - Thus the logic goes that some races of people are inherently superior to others, and this can be measured in some cases, such as in IQ levels. I do agree that all races are different, in the same way that people within the same race are different. People are not born equally. Some are naturally smarter, stronger, more creative, etc. Thus not only does one find wildly differing IQs depending on race, you'll also find differing IQs from people within the same race. You'll even find a large gap in IQs from people in the same family. How much someones IQ is determined by genetics as opposed to other factors (such as culture, wealth, economic stability of one's country, etc) cannot effectively be measured. I hear this kind of shit a lot from Neo Nazi types alot, which is funny because these same studies they quote that always seem to show them to be so much smarter than Black people also shows Eastern European Jews to have the highest average IQs of all. Thus by their own bullshit assumptions Jews are a superior race to themselves.

It's also interesting to see how these Nazi types try to explain away this finding. I won't link to anything here but do a few googles if you're looking for some lulz

4) Final point - I'm just gonna block and remove people who troll me. If you comment on the content of my videos that is fine. I'll even debate people. You do not even have to be a nice guy about it, I don't care about insults, bad language, calling my mother ugly, etc. But if you're just gonna troll me in some sad attempt to piss me off because you can't handle the fact that I wear and afro, then I'm just gonna block you.

In the past on various forums and boards and such, I've spoken out a lot against the freaky fundamentalist people - more than a lot actually. However as I've said in a previous video, that kind of thing doesn't really motivate me very much anymore. Really who gives a shit what someone thinks about the afterlife? Nobody really knows anyway. It begins to matter when they make public policy out of what should be private beliefs, but if people want to do stupid shit in the privacy of their own homes who are you to stop them?

One thing I have noticed though since about that time is there seems to be an increase of people who are declaring themselves as "atheists" or agnostics (myself included.) Like I said in Episode 6 there's a very large debate on-line between theists and non-theists, which is actually a great thing if you think about it. What we have here are not pastors debating philosophers or priests arguing with scientists - what we have are ordinary people using this medium to debate beliefs directly. Really can you name anytime in history when everyone had such access to disseminate their ideas? The fact that it's being done rationally, without violence is also pretty big if you look at history.

But anyway, suffice to say there's a pretty big atheist presence out on teh intertubes. The problem is however is when you start actually listening to these people, you find a rather large amount of them are former believers who have either had some kind of personal crisis, people who have in some way been burned really hard and have now thrown all the faith they used to place in a personal, all-knowing God behind a non-personal, materialistic science. It seems to me there's very, very few atheists out there who came from a neutral standpoint, studied both sides, and then chose the atheist conclusion.

The problem with these people then becomes that they begin to push their new lack-of-faith as hard as they pushed their former faith. It goes to ridiculous lengths. We have people trying to remove "in God we trust" from the money. People sue to remove of nativity scenes and Christmas trees from public spaces. This is all done under the guise of "separating church from state," but in real life there's also a selfish slant to it. For instance, you notice these people never advocate removing religious holidays from federal paid-status.

Having a Christmas tree in a public square or a nativity scene in a public park isn't State endorsing religion. You know what is? Having daily bible study in the fucking White House. Putting the Ten Commandments in front of a court house is. Giving our tax dollars to one religious institution while seizing the assets of another - that's the state endorsing religion.

So my message to Atheists is this - if you really do not believe, then any of the bullshit that believers do should slide off you like water off a duck's back. Who gives a shit if people like putting gifts under their pagan holly tree, or if they like hiding the Easter fertility eggs, or if they want to set up a light up manger scene one day out of the year? You know what the message you people give off is? "I'm such a self-hating prick that I'm gonna fuck up your holidays, because I can." That's why morons like Bill O'Rielly can stand up every year and declare some farcical "War on Christmas" every single year and people believe his stupid shit, because some dried up idealist out there has taken it upon himself to be the atheist avenger and fuck up someone else's holiday. If you do not believe in it, then what is the fucking problem?

My final point to the Atheists is to choose your battles wisely. You're not going to show anyone the error of their primitive ways by insulting their holidays, or by calling them names, or by suing to get their trite, commericalized displays taken down. You do it by encouraging people to learn and discover alternate points of view for themselves. The truth is educated people tend to not be fundamentalists - so you want to get rid of all those reactionary bible thumpers who seem hell bent on starting Armageddon? Advocate for education, fully fund our schools. Stop letting the fucking Republicans cut down public education until it's crawling to corporations for funding. Get people to read fucking books instead of watching TV - you know, so they can actually learn something.

Birthers, conspiracy, and Reality.

Once upon a time in America, when there was an election and the guy you voted for lost, you accepted this loss and adopted the winner as your own. The person who won the election represented you, for better or worse. If you didn't like it you wrote letters and got yourselves organized for next time. Sadly in the United States this doesn't seem to happen anymore. Now when the guy you vote for loses you make shit up out of whole cloth and use said lies as excuses to vote against your own self interest.

What I'm referring to specifically is the ongoing Obama birth certificate "conspiracy." You would think most people would've given up on this shit already, but that assumes people who believe such things are like, rational and everything. You know, believing things like EVIDENCE and all.

This whole thing started last year as a way of slandering the Obama campaign under a thinly veiled label of racism. In today's PC climate it's a big no-no to use the N word when describing your political opponent. So since they couldn't make pictures of Obama eating watermelon and fried chicken they chose to focus then on his "foreign" sounding name. Anyone remember during the campaign when all the right wingers started purposely using his middle name whenever they could? It was right around the same time they tried to link him to Bill Ayers. Since they couldn't stir up hate because he was black (at least, not officially,) they went the "closet Muslim terrorist sympathizer" route instead.

Right around this time someone somewhere out in Republican land got the bright idea to dispute Obama's citizenship. You can't get your ass beat in an election if the guy running against you isn't qualified, right? Too bad that particular tactic was shot down rather quickly when Factcheck.org posted Obama's certificate of live birth, which is authentic (even though of course the "birthers" immediately turned around and called it fake, which it isn't.)

By the way a certificate of live birth is the document you get from the state when one requests a birth certificate. Your real birth certificate, i.e. the document with the seal on it and baby foot prints and all that jazz, goes on file in some statehouse somewhere when you're born. Why? Because it's a matter of public record. When you request copies of it the Certificate of live birth is what you get instead, which is a document that certifies that the Birth Certificate exists. You do not get one of these if your Birth Certificate does not exist. Keep in mind though the law about Birth certificates differs depending on what state you're in. For instance, my mother is in possession of her real Birth Certificate, while I myself only have a Certificate of Live Birth. Everyone understand that?

Well, let's ignore this particular piece of evidence for the time being (why not, the birthers certainly do.) We also have newspaper birth announcements from the time which announce President Obama's birth, in Hawaii. These can be found on Snopes.com here. Now how exactly can someone ignore these little bits of evidence? I can see someone claiming the Certificate of live birth is fake, but what about these? Did someone 48 years ago plant these in the local newspapers to one day set up Barrack Obama as the President?

Sounds crazy, right? No one could possibly believe this, right? Not if you listen to the New World Order crowd. These are the people that believe world politics are manipulated by the Illuminati to slowly bring us all into a one world fascist government, and have always maintained that the presidents of all nations are merely puppets, and the real government is run by a cabal of families with ancient bloodlines and controlling interests in financial and corporate power. This far right fringe conspiracy mythology has been gestating for several decades now, and seem to now involve everything from UFOs to Jesus Christ.

Obama conspiracies run from the mundane (for a conspiracy,) such as from Alex Jones, who merely thinks Obama is a "savior" type being set up by the elites in order to usher in the one world government (unless he's the Antichrist,) to the paranoid rediculous - take for instance David Icke, who believes Obama is a reptilian from another dimension (to be fair, David Icke thinks most famous people and world leaders are also lizards in disguise.) Then you have the totally flailing and batshit insane, say like Freeman of the Freeman Perspective who maintains Obama and his whole family are clones of the ancient Pharonic family of Akhenaten here to usher us back into an Egyptian monothestic religion (be careful though, becasue Freeman also predicted 9-11, at least he says he did.) I'm glad to see the lunatic fringe has gleefully worked the Obama birth conspiracy into their greater narrative, it makes for some great late night radio.

Putting the far right tin foil hat people aside (because some people will believe any kind of horseshit,) we're still left with a very hard core group of conservatives that despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary still won't get it through their bony heads that a black man is president. Some of the arguments these people cite is thus:

1) The font on the Certificate of live birth was designed in 1982, far after Obama's birth - this fails to take into account that the document is a print out made with modern office equipment.

2) There's no embossed seal or signature on the Certificate of live birth. That's because it's on the other side, you morons.

3) Obama is not a natural born citizen because Hawaii law says his mother had to be 21 in order for this to be so. Snopes.com also does a good job of debunking this one

3) Some try to twist around the wording of the 14th amendment itself, to make it sound like it implies a person is a natural born citizen only if both his parents are also citizens. Too bad it doesn't say that. The relevant text is right there in section 1:

"Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

BOOYA, you stupid fucks.

4) Another thing I keep hearing from these mouth breathing morons is a flub he made during the campaign where he mentioned he had visited 57 states. Here's the video:

The Birthers insist this means that Obama doesn't know how many states there are. Give me a fucking break. Is this the best you dumbasses can come up with?

5) Obama refuses to put his hand over his heart when taking the pledge of allegiance. And this relates to his citizenship how, exactly?

The sad fact is, there is no talking to the people who believe this bullshit. Know why? Because we've been talking to them for the last decade. These are the same people who impeached a Democratic president for lying about an infidelity but didn't lift a finger to a Republican president for lying about starting a fucking war. These people WANT there to be war in Afghanistan, they WANT us to stay in Iraq for the next 100 years. These people WANT us to have an American gulag where we can throw people without charging them and without trials. These are the people where you can put overwhelming evidence that their own leaders are manipulating them and they'll ignore it. Yet when a Democrat gets in and does something like spend some money fixing our crumbling bridges and trying to give people health care all of the sudden sales of guns and ammo go through the roof.

These people voted for McCain in the hope that he'd die halfway through so Mrs. Sarah-moose-shooting-non-rape-kit-providing-helicopter-wolf-hunting-abstinence-only-oh-look-my-teenage-daughter-is-pregnant-Palin would ascend to the throne and start WWIII with Iran so Jesus would finally come back and outlaw abortion or something. They WANT us all living in a police state and working at Burger King for $2 a week becasue the only fucking thing they seem to care about are fucking guns and baby killing.

What's even worse is now they're taking all the shit that got started in the Bush administration, like say a 700 billion dollar bail out, or the economy, or TORTURE for godsakes, and they turn right around and blame it on Obama. Give me a fucking break - it's only been six months. Have you dumbasses forgotten who ran the country for the last decade?

THERE IS NO TALKING TO THESE PEOPLE. They are incapable of comprehending anything that goes against their fantastical narrative. Hello, my name is Mark, and I'm a couch potato.

Or at least, I used to be. I, like millions of other people out there, was in the habit of coming home from a long day's work, turning on the TV and just sitting there for like 27 hours straight watching whatever stupid crap that was on. Even when there was really nothing worth watching whatsoever I would spend countless precious hours just flipping through channels trying to find something, anything to veg out on. Eventually you start watching random bullshit that, given a choice, you would never look twice at. Things like Spanish language soap operas - which is fine, except I don't speak Spanish. Or crap like infomercials, surreal children's educational shows that have a lot of puppets, or conservative news channels.

I have the Internet to thank for breaking my TV habit. A few years ago I finally managed to get a job where I could afford my own (crappy) place, without having to live with roommates or parents. But at the time I had to make a choice: either Cable TV or Internet access. Since my job requires me to work from home on weekends on occasion (and also, you know, I need to be able to play Command & Conquer against real people else I go insane) I chose Internet access. Thus no more TV for me.

Thank God. I'll never go back. I'll never have cable TV again ever as long as I live. I'm a hundred billion times more productive than I used to be. True back in the day I usually would be doing other things while the TV was on in the background, but now that I don't have that incessant white noise distracting me I'm able to accomplish so much more. Those of you who know me know that I'm an artist. Whereas before I would usually just doodle while being distracted by cartoons and eventually finish something if it turned out good, now that I don't sit there like a zombie for 87 hours a week my artistic output is in overdrive. I produce a fully rendered work every singe day (most of which can be seen here and here :) My apartment isn't a complete fucking disorganized mess, because I'm motivated to do shit like vacuum the floor and wash dishes. Of course, I'm not 100% divorced from the TV - my DVD collection has grown like an out-of-control fungus in the last few years - but now at least I get things done instead of sitting there like a fucking kumquat.

I do spend a lot of time online now. But it's not the same as just sitting there vegging out in front of the idiot box. While online you're at least interacting: You're reading, you're communicating, you're debating, you're researching, you're commenting - your brain is engaged. You are not a zombie while online (unless you like, sit there in front of YouTube all day watching videos of kittens or people falling off skateboards or something....) Spending an hour on Wikipedia verses an hour with Jerry fucking Springer is no comparison. One of them makes you stupid.

One thing I've noticed now that I don't watch a lot of television is that television is all that everyone fucking talks about. I miss out on all the latest gossip about Lost or Smallville or whatever show is on top now. There's really nothing wrong with that - what else you gonna talk about - but it seems really bizarre to me that people spend so much time talking about useless crap that has no bearing on their lives whatsoever.

Then you start noticing that once you don't expose yourself to the television, you start missing the latest distracting newstainement "story" of the week that everyone is supposed to be concerned about. For instance, I had no idea who the stupid fucking Octomom was, nor did I care. I was instead online reading up on the economic collapse and bank bailouts that were happening at the time, you know, the important shit that they try to get you to ignore by hoisting these bullshit media-blitzes at you. It also took me a week to notice that there was some kind of gigantic Pig flu epidemic that everyone was supposed to die from. Oh I knew about the swine flu and it's effect in Mexico thanks to online news sources, I just no idea how much of a big deal the media made it out to be. It really is funny that whenever something really important happens, like say torture memos are unearthed or a bank collapses or the CIA admits to releasing radiation into American cities or something, that there's always some dumb-ass tabloid celebrity story the media chooses to cover instead. It's just uncanny how the timing of these thing always coincide.

There's a reason why they call TV shows "programs." It's because they program YOU. When you watch Television shows (most especially, television news programs) you have to remember that the people who create this programming have their own agendas. Most of the time that agenda is to get you to buy from their sponsors, but that's not always the extent. You are being told how to think, and that stupid idiot machine hypnotizes you into accepting their version of reality.

There's a reason why people out there are so fucking stupid. Why do you think people continuously vote against their own interests? Why can a war get started on fake evidence, and no one does anything about it? Why do people believe things like President Obama is a closet Muslim extremist who also has a radical conservative preacher at the same time and wasn't born in this country yet refuse to do anything about real criminals in government, even when absolute proof of their lies are presented to them? Why do people believe that somehow the government is overstepping it's powers by acting as arbitrator when one of the nation's top auto manufacturers declares bankruptcy, yet at the same time assign no blame to the people who stand to make a boatload of cash as a result? How can people stand by and allow prisoners to be tortured, for American citizens to be held for years without trial, for people to be brutalized for no good reason or for one "right" after another to be taken away without raising a fucking finger to stop it?

But they get real pissed off when Uncle Sam dares to take the TV away so we can all have nationwide free public wifi Internet access.

I hope to God they do the digital switchover soon, and that millions of people are left without television. That is what this nation needs, people to unplug and stop watching the official version of events, and to get free Internet. Maybe then the intelligence quotient of this nation might go up a few points and we'll stop being the laughing stock of the western world.

There's really no end to this rant. Just stop watching fucking TV and your quality of life will improve. That is all.

Ten Things I Fucking Hate part 12

1) People who brag about being smart as children: Wow, you had a 140 IQ at twelve and went to a gifted school, huh? Well what the fuck happened? Why you workin' at this place? When did you go from being so smart and gifted to such a neurotic loser? Here's an idea, why don't you quit talking about how smart you USED to be and do something smart today, like shutting the fuck up?

2) Whole towns that ban smoking: Here's another disturbing fascist trend going around this country, entire towns that ban smoking outside within X number of feet of any public building. I can understand banning it inside of places. I can understand restaurants and such not allowing smoking on their patios. But to not allow smoking, when a person is outside, in an entire town? Give me a fuckin' break. I quit smoking a year ago, and let me tell you I'm happy becasue this shit is getting out of hand. Pretty soon we'll be throwing these people in prision and hooking up car batteries to their testicles for buying a carton of Luckys. There are far more important things out there to worry about.

3) American Remakes of recent Asian movies: First we had The Ring remake, then The Grudge, then The Eye, now there's an American remake of the Host coming soon. Problem is all of the Asian originals of these movies are rather recent. I can understand remaking a movie that's several decades old, but why remake a movie that just came out? Why not just dub or sub the one that's already there, why take the extra expense of buying the rights and refilming it? It's pretty racist if you think about it - These studios that are slogging out these substandard remakes think I'm more likely to want to see these movies just becasue there are white people in them. Fuck that shit.

4) Chickenshit Myspace and thier bending-over-backwards legal team: Couldn't help but notice that Myspace has started blocking playlist.com widgets. Thanks assholes. Thing is there's no particular law being broken by using such players, chances are You would think that now that Myspace is owned by a gigantic worldwide media megaconglomerate with billions of dollars behind it that they would be able to stand up to pissant legal threats like this. But you would be wrong.

5) Embedded text in Youtube videos: So now not only do I have to slog through badly made music videos and failed viral youtube poop bullshit, I also have to contend with big ugly gray boxes taking up half the viewable area at the same time. Who's bright idea was this shit? It's not like the video isn't three inches across in the first place. Let's make it so I can't see even more of what's going on. Good idea dumbasses.

I also notice there's those little sub banner ads on youtube videos now. They don't just appear for a few seconds, it'll popup and just hang out for the whole damn video, forcing you to break concentration and actually click to turn the annoying shit off, but they make the "x" all small and shit on purpose so you accidentally click on the advert and get redirected...Ugh... fuck Youtube.

6) The United States government and everyone in it: Wow, just noticing NOW after 8 years how fucked up everything is? So all you nincompoops just turned a blind eye to the criminal cabal that's been ripping us off and shredding the constitution for the majority of the last decade? Fact is anyone who worked in any government agency during the Bush era has been complacent in the face of corruption.

Yes, all of them, every last one of them - all the bureaucrats, congressional aids, soldiers, FBI agents, CIA spooks, park rangers, social workers, engineers, plumbers, mailmen, everyone - they are all guilty to some degree of turning the other way while the Bush people fucking destroyed everything. You know what you do when the people you work for do unscrupulous things? You quit. You separate yourself from them. If you're a dockworker, and the company you work for is smuggling cocaine inside of teddy bears, and you don't quit after finding this out, then when they get busted you go down with them. Now our government is starting to unravel, shit is falling apart. All of you people who kept your heads down and followed orders are going down with it. If you morons would have stood up in 2001 when the Bush people stole the election and everyone knew it we wouldn't be in this mess. Yes, I am still bitter about that. You should be too, becasue right now we're reaping the result of that fiasco.It's embarrassing, and it's shameful that no one is going to do a goddamned thing about it.

Thank God it's finally over. Thank God someone who actually like, got the majority of votes has actually been elected. You know, DEMOCRACY.

7)People who get pissed off when you let other people cut in line: The other day I went to a bagel place to get me some breakfast. There was a big huge line as usual. When I got to the front, a little old lady came up and politely asked me if she could cut in line and get a small coffee, as she was in a hurry. However before I could say anything some Jerkoff nincompoop got all squeaky and arrogant, gave me that "Excuse me, but we've all been waiting" line. Seems to me lately that the only people who get mad at this kind of thing are arrogant white people, usually young, make too much money and somehow thing they deserve special treatment. The kind of people who have never ever ever had to actually want for anything. I marched right up to that goofy big-nosed asshole and drop kicked him right in the face, rolled into a flying power bomb and finished him off with a DDT to his nutsack, then kicked him in his stupid head and burned his house down.

Then in real life, the old lady went to back away after Squeaky-asshole man stuck his big nose in, but I made sure to say rather loudly "I don't care what that guy thinks" and not only let her line, I also offered to buy her coffee for her (of which she steadfastly refused.) Squeaky looked angry but was too chickenshit to say anything - he was obviously not used to someone calling his bluff. The world would be a better place if people would stand up to assholes like that more often.

8) People who buy stupid shit: A co-worker of mine pointed out to me an online store that sold toothpaste with industrial grade diamonds in them. As if someone out there had a mouth crusty enough that the only way they could possibly clean it was to scrub them with diamonds. Freakin' DIAMONDS, for crissakes. Consequently this toothpaste cost $24.50.

Whenever I see stupid crap like this I always hope it becomes the next big thing. I hope these diamond toothpaste peddlers sell millions upon millions of them, so that millions of people out there grind off the top layer of tooth enamel and lacerate the fuck out of their gums and then sue the living shit out of these toothpaste fuckers. Then maybe, just maybe, some of those morons will learn to stop buying stupid shit.

9) Conservatives - Every last one of them: I couldn't help but notice that all you conservative shitheads seem obsessed with two things:

2. Weapons

A real funny thing that's happened since the election last year is that sales of guns and ammo have gone off the freakin' scale. It's almost like since there's a black man in charge now who just happens to have a big "D" in front of his name all you slack jawed yokels suddenly think the New World order is gonna finally have you peeling potatoes in those bus termina- I mean concentration camps.

So let me get this straight, exactly:

Bush:
- Drops the Ball on 9-11
- Starts two wars, fucks up both of them
- Spends a trillion dollars on said wars, kills over 1,000,000 people (or a mere hundred thousand, if you're a conservative. Like that's any better.)
- Takes away Habeas Corpus
- Takes away Posse Comitatus
- Starts a whole new department of Homeland security
- Throws people (including American Citizens) into secret prisons, without trial
- Vice President runs an assassination squad
- Katrina = teh fail
- Spying on American citizens, then lying about it
- Begins a new arms race with his rediculous fictional Star Wars anti-missile system.
- Takes a perfectly good projected surplus and turns it into the largest National Debt in American history
- Fails to regulate wallstreet when Enron goes under.
- Stands by in his lame duck term and does jack shit while the financial markets implode

You: No problem, everything's cool!

Obama:

- Bails out the financial and Auto industry, has the audacity to spend money on things other than banks.

10) Adobe Reader: Can we make this slow buggy piece of shit hog more of my system resources? I don't think it makes my computer slow down enough. Like when it totally takes over my system during it's twenty minute update installation cycle. You know, that thing that other programs can do in like two minutes. Maybe we can make it totally lock up my system for days at a time. It's not like I'm actually doing you know, work or anything.

However I'm not disappointed in my president, for a change. The man has been president for a little over three weeks now, and in that time he's done many of the things he said he would do, Most notably setting in motion the process to shut down Guantanamo bay, directing all intelligence agencies to follow the Army's field manual guidelines as to the treatment of prisoners (as in, no more hooking up car batteries to some dude's nipples or filling his lungs with water then saving him half a second before he dies,) and, for the love of God, instituting a timeline to finally end major combat operations in fucking Iraq. These three things already put Obama head and shoulders over the Bush thieves that have been eating away at our country for the last eight years. True he's done some things that I do not agree with, for instance maintaining the practice of extraordinary rendition, scaling up the conflict in Afghanistan, and allowing bombing raids into Pakistan. But you take the good with the bad. It's a misconception that all Iraq war protesters are also against the Afghan war too. violent retaliation is perfectly justified against Al Queda, in fact if we would have concentrated on that instead of the illegal Iraq war it would probably be over with by now.

Why I am disappointed is because the Democrats are still so fucking spineless, AGAIN. For the last three months or so we've all been talking about Obama's stimulus package. It's been headline news 24/7 since he won the election. It seemed to me that the news media would routinely bring it back during the waning weeks of the Bush administration, as if to give the people something to hope for between news of continuous layoffs and shutdowns - "Just sit tight and wait for Obama to get in there, and this stimulus package will be coming our way." Obama it seemed then went out of his way to get the Republicans on board. But when it came down to it the vote in the house was dead split along party lines. Not one Republican voted for it. We had almost the same in the senate, with a mere 3 of the opposing party on board. This is after the package was cut back by 100 billion - which was taken from the education and environmental portions of the bill I might add. We didn't see any cuts from the corporate fucking tax breaks section.

The major news media of course is just blind to all this as always. While the economy is melting down and thousands upon thousands of us are loosing our jobs those shitheads are busy blabbering about a swimmer guy who got busted smoking weed and some stupid bitch who had eight stupid babies at the same time. Yeah that's some real news there.

This sounds evil and dastardly, but the truth is the Democrats have always been the Junior party. Even though the Repubs got trounced in the last election they still continue to set the Agenda while the Democrats play defense. That's just how it works in Washington. This is going to be a pattern that we'll see a lot in the next four years. The democratic majority in the House is large enough that every Republican can safely boycott every bill that goes by and not have to worry about looking bad. In the Senate small concessions will be made to get the one or two Republicans on board that are needed to get anything passed. Things may change during the mid term elections but don't count on it. Truth be told it's probably better this way. One party shouldn't have too much power anyway, even if it's the people you voted for.

What's really disappointing me though is how fast and hard the right wing pundit assholes have made a 180 - two months ago they were defending the flag, mom, and apple pie, now they're calling for Revolution. Right wing radio is still reeling from the defeat last November and their response has been to froth at the mouth. The hate machine is turned on higher than ever, trying to blame Obama for all of Bush's failures - the one I really love is the line that the stock market tanking and the banks falling apart is somehow the result of Obama winning the election and not the culture of corruption we've allowed to fester for the last decade. Yeah, ok. I suppose he started the wars too, huh?

You notice that none of these people ever call him "President Obama." Limbaugh calls Obama "the Messiah." Mocica Crowly calls him "Da Bama." If they are forced to actually use his name they always make sure to include the "Hussein." It's Almost like they just can't bring themselves to say "President," like that would be admitting defeat. It's also a nice way of dehumanizing someone. A good drinking game (if you're ever home at 11am and feel like boozing it) is to switch back and forth between clearchannel stations and see how many demeaning nicknames you can spot.

This is all really funny, because even though they're all screaming crazy like wild animals about how much Obama is going to destroy the world their arguments (as always) hold very very very little substance. Instead of attacking any particular policy too directly, like say the stimulus package (probably because the Republicans aren't stupid and know we actually do need it,) they tend to focus on his "character," which so far has been impeccable. But that doesn't stop them from twisting it around - now the fact that Obama can like, actually speak and make sense on TV is turned around and he's a "demagogue." It's that same old line from last summer when they kept calling him a "Celebrity." Ann Coulter even attacked the first lady, calling her a "saint." What the fuck kind of an insult is "saint?" What does that mean, exactly? Is she too GOOD? Then, when Obama decided to include his middle name during his swearing in, Coulter actually demanded an APOLOGY from everyone. Are you fucking kidding me?

It doesn't take an earth shattering leap of logic to see that these names are all a thinly veiled substitute for "NIGGER." You know I'm right. That's why only redneck hillbilly truck drivers listen to this garbage in the first place. Did we call Bush names like this? Clinton? Not really, not to the same extent. It's a dehumanizing tactic so we'll instantly turn against anything he might actually be doing. Conservative media people have always been quick to point out how namecalling is a "liberal" tactic while always engaging in a healthy amount of the practice themselves. Then some half-cooked wackjob shows up at a Church play and starts gunning down "liberals." Well when you're fed a diet of hate speech 24-7 from fat drug addicted slimebags what the hell do you think is gonna happen?

You know, clear channel laid off 1,850 people in January. This article says the new parent company is looking to cut about $400 million in costs. Hey, guess who got a $400 million dollar contract with Clear Channel last year? Looks like the wrong fat got trimmed. But people like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Monica Crowley, Micheal Savage, etc all, they do not see the connection between their own ridiculously over bloated salaries and waves upon waves of blue collar layoffs. That's why you don't hear these assholes saying much about how the banks just ripped us off for $350 billion last October. The analogy is just a little to close to home for these people. To them this is survival of the fittest. To them, it's YOUR fault that you have the shitty job you have, it's YOUR fault your job doesn't pay enough to have health insurance, or has shitty benefits so your CEO can make 800 times what you make. They say it's YOUR fault if your job doesn't have benefits at all (like say, mine) and it's YOUR fault if your job gets shipped to India so they can pay some poor schmo 5% of what they used to pay you. It's also your fault if your whole company goes under because some pencil necked bean counter was cookin' the books through off shore shell companies so the CEO can snort coke off a hooker's ass during a company trip to Thailand. They don't give a fuck, because each time something goes wrong they get to write another book about how it's all the Black President's fault.

These people do not care about you. The line we keep hearing from them is we should just cut taxes down to zero and shrink the government down to nothing, and somehow this will magically create a super duper unstoppable economy and everyone will get rich. Well besides the fact that such a notion is complete bullshit - I mean, what the fuck have we been doing for the last 8 years - but it's doubly ironic since the person they bent over backwards for over the last 8 years is the one who got us into this fucking mess in the first place. Remember the Bush $1 trillion dollar tax cut, and how that was supposed to make us all happy and wealthy? Well I don't know about you, but the $1200 I got spread out over 8 years kinda disappeared pretty quick. Kinda wish we had that Trillion dollars now, huh? We were supposed to be farting through silk by this time. Remember how back in 2002 they wanted to put Social Security into the stock market? Arent'cha glad that shit didn't happen? What other bad ideas do you right wing shitmonkeys have for us now? Invest Medicare into Jackalope farms and lunar cheese mines? Put our college funds into furry trout fisheries? Any other schemes that will let the top 1% rip off even more wealth?Where the fuck is your Free Market now?

Elections Make You Stupid

It's that time again. Time for you to turn off Halo 3, get up off your fat behind, put down the Kentucky Fried Chicken, and slog your disgusting self down to the school house to choose which thieving slimebag is going to rob us blind for the next four years. I love democracy.

Something I've noticed is that the reduction of the intelligence quotient of hardcore party supporters is directly related to the distance of election day. As that date grows closer people always tend to get stupider, regardless of their political affiliation. But I'm sure I'm not alone when I say as far as "stupid" goes, this election takes the cake.

I make no secret of the fact that I'm a lefty tree hugging pinko liberal, in fact I rather enjoy the label. But just becasue I'm a registered Democrat does not mean I just blindly follow and do what I'm told. Seems to me that liberals in general tend to hold their own people to a higher standard than Conservatives. We actually do things like protest against our own party, unlike the conservatives, who close their ears and vote for whatever sleazebucket that happens to have the big "R" next to their name. Not only that, but it seems that the closer the election gets, the more rediculous the claims conservatives tend to make about the other party.

It's standard procedure in American politics to make up total bullshit about your opponent. The lies and rumors don't actually convince anyone of who to vote for, people usually make up their minds in this regard far in advance of the election. What they do is allow people to justify in their minds as to why they're voting for someone they don't like by demonizing the other person. So you've already decided to vote for candidate A even though he's been busted for fraud and embezzlement, so you bullshit yourself into thinking it's ok by believing some total crap rumor that candidate B is a cannibal who eats babies. Whoever can get more people to bullshit themselves wins the election, that's how these things work.

But this time, oh man... we've entered fantasy land a long time ago. Since we now (thankfully) live in an environment where societal pressures make it taboo to not vote for someone becasue of their race (openly that is,) instead the slime attacks against Obama have taken on a very surreal xenophobic flavor. Here's a few things I've noticed:

- First and foremost, we have the "Obama is a closet Muslim" rumor. In forums and such, people always include his middle name when mentioning him. So it's always "Barrack HUSSIEN Obama," just to reinforce the idea that sometime in ancient fucking history, one of his ancestors might have worshiped the same God as you but in a funny dress five times a day.

- Of course, even though he's a Muslim, that doesn't stop him from having an radical Christian preacher that spouts anti-American things. Guess he's not much of a Muslim in the first place, huh?

By the way, we don't see much in the news about McCain's antisemite preachers, or Sarah Palin's speaking-in-tongues, God-wants-that-oil religious beliefs, do we? I mean we would, if the fucking McCain/Palin campaign would let the newsmedia actually talk to their supporters. So I guess fundamentalism in government is OK as long as it's YOUR fundamentalism?

- We have the "Obama's birth certificate is fake" rumor, even though it's been proved phony people keep bringing it back. I mean come on, does anyone really think the DNC would choose someone who isn't a citizen? Please.

- How about the "Obama cocaine and Gay sex" rumor? So if one jackass on Youtube makes a video, then it's automatically true? Get the fuck out of here.

- Or maybe the "Terrorist Fist Bump" fiasco. Yeah, that's really fair and balanced. What a fucking joke.

- Speaking of Terrorists, what about the "Obama is best buddies with convicted terrorist William C. Ayers" line? Oh yeah, he's really a terrorist. I mean, he was out there with Ayers bombing buildings when he was eight years old. Too bad Ayers is a respected tenured professor and a force in Illinois politics.

This is like saying, oh... I don't know... Bush is a Terrorist becasue he has business ties to the Bin Laden family.

My favorite rumor by far however is the "Obama is the Anti-Christ" line. So now not only are we voting for a secret-cocaine-snorting-radical-Christian except-he's-really-a-Muslim-gay-terrorist, he's also the spawn of Satan himself. Notice how all these dumbasses call him "The Messiah?" Wanna know why they do that? First off, becasue Rush Limbaugh calls him that. No link needed for that, just hit google. Second, it's to capitalize on the anti-Christ figure in Tim Lahay's Left Behind novels. Wow. Just, wow. You would think there couldn't possibly be anyone so fucking stupid as to actually pick this up, but you'd be wrong. Goddamn conservatives eat this shit up.

Yet despite all of these rediculous rumors, as of this writing (10/7/08) Obama is wiping the fucking walls with McCain. In some battleground states some of the polls put him ten or more points ahead. Seems like people are smarter than the GOP whisper campaigns are giving them credit for. One gets the feeling that these heaping helpings of sleaze are starting to backfire, especially when people like your own vice presidential candidate start repeating shit proved to be false nearly a year ago.

Sarah Palin... good gravy covered shitballs, where to start with that woman. I could go into all of the reasons why such a person is so completely not qualified to run our country, but I won't. What I will do is the one thing that other people will not do: Attack her becasue of her religion. That's right, the rest of the lefties are too PC to take this route. But since I'm on a blog with a readership that can be counted on one hand, I will do it for them.

Her religion is the reason she is not qualified to run the country. She's from the far, far right evangelical field. These are the kind of people that believe that any day now the trumpets will sound and suddenly they'll all disappear, leaving just a bundle of clothes behind (I've always thought it funny that heaven is supposed to be one big nudist colony.) She goes to a church that tries to "cure" gay people. She personally believes that Alaska itself will play some pivotal role in the end times.

Because people of her ilk are standing around, waiting for the world to end, that completely justifies in their mind any kind of pollution that commercial exploitation of our natural resources might entail. That's why Sarah Palin doesn't believe in Global warming and why she likes to fly around and shooting wolves and Polar bears from helicopters - becasue according to her, God is going to come back and put everything the way it was, so might as well use it in the meantime. Guess it doesn't matter that there's thousands of three legged frogs running around, or a continent sized Sargasso sea of plastic fucking bottles floating around in the Pacific. God will take care of all that, so go ahead and shoot those endangered red footed falcons. He'll make more when he gets here.

Not that any of these people would even understand the severe environmental damage we're facing, becasue that takes like, an understanding of science where dinosaurs didn't coexist with mankind 4000 years ago.

Most evangelicals blissfully ignore the corruption, fundamentalists, and anti-environment angles and focus on morality. True, she seems on the surface to practice what she preaches, like making her daughter marry the loser who knocked her up. But this shotgun wedding bescumbles the fact that Palin's unwed teenage daughter is having a baby in the first place. To us, the loony lefty liberals, teenage sex is not a big deal. But Palin and her ilk come from the Abstinence only crowd.

So what, may I ask, is her daughter, who by her own beliefs supposed to be celibate, doing with a bun in the oven in the first place? Sounds to me that such people practice that valued American tradition of saying one thing and doing another? Could it be that somebody is full of shit?

What else are these people lying to us about? Here's one - that everybody is responsible for their own financial situation. You know, the ol' "You're poor becasue it's your own fault" routine. This is the excuse they give us to cut funding to things like health clinics, welfare, and education for ghetto children. It's sprung out of some bullshit 13th century belief that God himself determines who is rich and who is poor based on faith alone. You hear that term "Wealth Redistribution" being thrown around, like it's some kind of South African land grab to provide people with food stamps.

Too bad when it really comes down to it such people don't seem to give a shit about financial responsibility, not when it comes to redistributing seven hundred billion of our dollars UPWARDS to the rich people who ripped us all off in the first place. Where's your fucking "fiscal Responsibility" talk now, huh? Never mind the fact that this republican administration took the only projected surplus in the last 40 years and turned it into the largest deficit in fucking American history. Guess that fiscally conservative shit doesn't matter when it comes to cutting a trillion tax dollars for the rich people, huh? Yet these same people turn around and accuse of of creating a "nanny state." It blows my mind.

That I think is the final mark against these people. Look at how fucked up our country is, with only 8 years of an evangelical in the white house. Do we truly want another one in charge, this one even more brainless than the last? Why is it people who believe in this religion are always so soulless? Regardless of what happens, The next president is going to face incredible challenges. It's a lose-lose situation for us: if McCain wins we spiral further downward into neocon oblivion, if Obama wins they just blame all the shit that goes wrong on him.

1) Programs that change your preferences without asking you - For instance, how Itunes, wmp, or most other media players automatically assume you want to use them to play all your media files. Fuck Itunes.

2) People who use lolspeak outside of video games: Lolspeak, L337 sp33k, "gamer talk," or whatever, is generally used inside of multiplayer games where you have to type in order to communicate quickly. Used in the proper environment (i.e. in game,) it's perfectly acceptable. But outside this environment it's just plain silly. Look at this:

You get free tech support with that sandwich too?

3) Those little banner ads that companies put at the bottom of Television shows now. It's bad enough that 8 1/2 minutes of every half hour TV show is normal commercials already, now they even insert them while the damn show is still on the air. It targets people who have DV recorders who just skip the commercials. God damn I hate TV.

4) People who complain too much about gas prices: What's the matter, just now noticing that gasoline seems to double in price every few years? Didn't think about that when you bought that gigantic gas guzzling Hummer shit-mobile? Yeah, I'm really crying for you. It's not like this oil peak baloney is old news. We've only been talking about it for the last eight years. Maybe now you'll listen to us when we tell you to stop believing what the government and news corporations tell you.

People continue to buy these gigantic trucks and tanks and shit becasue they want to be cute and stick it to the environmentalists. I saw a Hummer on the freeway with the bumper sticker "Piss off a Liberal - Buy American," thereby making the assumption that real Americans drive 27-ton penis compensators. Yeah, I'm real pissed. If you like giving oil companies your money, by all means go right on ahead. Have fun paying $150 every three days to fill up that piece of shit.

5) People who think life revolves around Movie franchises: Look, just shut up about how much Star Wars sucks already. Yes, we understand the old trilogy is a fantastic masterpiece and the new trilogy is a tragic load of suck. We understand that George Lucas has lost his marbles and should be committed before he ruins anything else. We get it already. Now Please go out and find something more important for your life to be about. Feed the homeless. Plant a tree. Cure Cancer. Invent something. Find something, anything. Just please don't allow yourself to die so pathetic.

6) Apologetics who undermine other people's religions by pointing out scientific inaccuracies yet deny it when the same inaccuracies are in their own holy works. Let's face it folks, religion is not scientifically accurate. None of them are. That's why it's called Religion, and not science. You're not doing your own religion a favor by pointing out how unscientifically sound someone's else's religion is, becasue it begs the question of how well your own holy book holds up under the microscope - not well. Truth is the religious texts for our three main Abrahamic religions were written thousands of years ago, and as thus each expresses an understanding of the universe from their respective cultures. When compared with science each one fails to reach the bar. Yes, your religion does too. So please, stop trying to use your scientific "facts" to disprove someone else's religion. You're only making yourself look bad.

7) People who drive yellow cars with racing stripes: Guess all you need to do in order to sell cars is make a movie about your cars turning into giant robots, huh? How many of you dumb motherfuckers ran out and bought yourself a yellow Camaro with racing stripes after watching that stupid ass movie? Hey, if the main guy had yellow racing stripes tattooed on his buttcheeks would you brainless unimaginative mouthbreathers do that too? Are product placements in movies really that effective? So all I have to do to make you fruitcakes buy something is put it in a damn movie with robot soda machines and transforming Motorolas an' shit?

What's really sad is the guy who couldn't afford a Camaro, so instead paints his old hunk of crap Mazda yellow with racing stripes to try to make it look like he's driving a Transformer. That's like wearing fake gold, or having Wood paneling on the side of your car. Everyone knows the shit is fake, you're only fooling yourself.

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Since when did people base their entire lives over what they see in the fucking movies? When Silence of the Lambs came out did people start eating Fava beans with a nice Chianti and making that slurping sound all the time? When Pulp Fiction came out did everyone start shooting up smack and quoting bible verses? Did Samsung sell a billion Phones after the Matrix?

Oh wait, they did.

8) When you're out with friends at a restaurant and no one will allow you to pay for anything. Thanks I appreciate it, but I have money too. You're making me feel cheap, Let me pay once in a while.

9) People who sell roms, hacks, protos, or other game related material that can be found for free like they're rare collectibles - One of the small sub segments of dorkdom I am happy to associate with are people who collect unreleased prototypes and early builds of games. Most of the people who are into this sort of thing are programmers and collect such material because of it's "educational" value, becasue what you get is usually still chock full of bugs and for the most part isn't playable. Once in a while though a game will make it nearly to retail before getting canned, a famous example being Half-Life or Propeller Arena for the Dreamcast, or Thrill Kill for the Ps1. Some of these games eventually get leaked and can be downloaded for free across various sites (some of them even legal :)

Problem is there's always some unscrupulous bottom-feeding dirtbag who burns a copy of said leaked rom, slaps together some off the shelf artwork and Ebays it as a "rare unreleased proto." Same shit with these assholes who burn a and sell full discs of Roms and emulators, it just muddies the hobby for the rest of us. True one shouldn't get too mad at scammers, becasue is it wrong to rip those off who are so eager to hand you their hard earned money? No, the reason they piss me off is the principal involved. These people are taking the labor of someone else and profiting off it. Just like some slimy crackbucket on the corner selling bootleg DVDs of a movie that's still showing in the theater across the street, these shitbags have no qualms about grifitng off the backs of others. Just goes to show, there's maybe 5% of the human population who actually creates everything so the other 95% can rip each other off.

10) Social networking Surveys: More inane bullshit that I'm not wasting my time with anymore. This is one of those ideas who's time has come and gone. I'm sure a few years ago when all these social networking sites that people use now instead of a real social life were the bees knees, filling out a few of these surveys might, maybe, occasionally, sometimes, once in a blue moon be a fun time waster. But as time goes on they just get more and more inane. It would help if they weren't all written by pre-teen girls. I'm not taking them, I'm not reading them, I'm not even looking at them anymore. I don't care when the last time you cried was or what kind of sandwich you ate yesterday or if you've ever cheated on a test, and I don't think I'm the only one. Is there anyone out there who actually pays attention to this bullshit? These surveys are distracting me from finding compromising semi-naked pictures of hot female acquaintances who's profiles I check but who I've only met a few times in real life. You know, the real reason we use these sites.

Fun with ATM fraud

Hey guys, I just got back from the bank, where I found out some dirtbag cloned my ATM card somehow and went on a mall shopping spree.

Yesterday I was using an ATM that I have used many times before in a CVS Pharmacy by my work. This time though the machine reset itself, right after I had entered my number in. I thought that was kinda strange. I watched it for a few minutes as it went up through it’s boot cycle (which it ran OS 2 warp, for some reason.) Unfortunately, I’m not super computer savvy enough to be able to tell what’s going on with a machine just by looking at it’s startup process (never mind the fact that I’ve also never seen an ATM starup before, I wouldn’t know if something’s wrong with it or what.) I shrugged it off, and checked my balance later in the day at a different machine. Everything was cool.

Earlier today at lunch after eating quite possibly the world’s best hamburger for some reason my atm card didn’t work when I went to pay. The girl gave me the "Sometimes these machines don’t work" spiel. I wouldn’t have been suspicious except for the freak resetting ATM thing that happened yesterday.

So on the way home from work I stopped in at the bank to check my balance, and sure enough someone had spent $300 out my account. Whoever it was somehow managed to hack or otherwise compromise that ATM in the pharmacy, then cloned the card and went shopping at the stupid mall (Macy’s and Fredricks of Hollywood, fucking lingerie of all things...)

Luckily I caught it early, and whoever it was apparently didn’t have my atm pin number as all the transactions were credit transactions (i.e. they had to sign for them like a credit card.) So luckily my savings were protected. So now I just got to spend the last hour closing out my account, opening a new account, and having the guy explain to me in intricate detail exactly what I need to do in order to file a fraud claim and get my $300 back.

I guess I should consider myself lucky as it was "only" $300 that the bank covers during the fraud investigation, my account was not frozen, I still have access to the money I have left, I hadn’t deposited my paycheck for this week, and I caught it early enough to prevent any more cash from disappearing. This same shit happened to a friend of mine and his bank totally froze everything.

So anyway, if you’re out using a money machine and suddenly it reboots for no reason, you know what’s going on.

No one ever gets to make fun of me for being paranoid ever again.

6 Reasons why the Transformers movie sucks

1) The main character is an annoying dumbass: The sole reason main character of Sam Witwiki seems to exist for is to somehow make an ass of himself or be made an ass of in front of hot chick Megan Fox. This includes:

- Making an ass out of himself in front of her at the park.

- Making an ass out of himself while driving her home.

- Making an ass out of himself while falling off a pink bicycle in front of her.

- His parents making an ass out of him while discussing his masturbational habits while she's in the room.

Now, in a movie about giant transforming robots, belief has to be firmly suspended from the beginning. However, expecting me to believe that a girl this hot would ever settle for a broke goofy baldy headed loser is just asking too much.

2) More plot holes than swiss cheese: Granted, when your movie is about giant transforming robots a few things can be forgiven, like the fact that they even bother talking in the first place. However this movie seems incapable of progressing for even five minutes without asking us to believe truly implausible, inane, and sometimes ridiculous "plot points," such as:

- Sam's father seems to think that two small earthquakes are capable of completely destroying his entire yard, including reducing his stone water fountain to rubble. This is despite the fact that there is no significant damage to the inside of the house. Yeah that makes sense.

- Sam and Mikela instantly trust that Bumblebee is there to protect them, even though Sam was running away from Bumblebee in panic less than five minutes beforehand.

- No one seems to really be astounded or even freaked out that giant transforming robots even exist. Our heroes are quickly able to asses the situation and act accordingly instead of reacting like a real person would, i.e. running away screaming their fucking heads off.

- Even though they are sentient robotic entities comprised of technology that eats ours for breakfast, the Decpticons are required to invade a heavily defended air force base in Qatar to forcibly break into the DoD's mainframe. Apparently they've never heard of free Wifi access points.

- The second attempt the Decepticons make involves sneaking into Air Force one to break into computers located in the Pentagon (um... okaaayyy...) As Frenzy the Decepticon is busy downloading defense secrets, the DOD comes to the conclusion that the only way to stop thievery of said secrets is to "cut the hard line," even though the intrusion is located on an airplane currently 5000 feet in the air. Must be those extra super secret DOD hard-line enabled wireless routers.

- Megatron is supposed to have been frozen in ice for the last 80 years, however he speaks fluent English the moment he's thawed out.

- The first half of the movie involves the Autobots and Decepticons looking for Sam to get his grandfather's glasses, which somehow have Megatron's co-ordinates imprinted on them (how they would know this is not explained, but this is fantasy here, so whatever.) So, Optimus gets the glasses, finds the co-ordinates in the Arctic, and moves out. However it turns out Megatron is in fact being held under Hoover dam by "Section 7," (which is this Men-in-Black type organization that is under the direct command of the President, even though in real life not even the President has high enough clearance for the really secret stuff,) and thus the Decepticons attack. Suddenly the Autobots are there to fight them, even though five minutes before they were on their way to Alaska. No explanation is given as to how they found out Megatron's true location.

- All of the Autobots speak English to each other while conversing privately instead of their native robot language. The Decepitcons talk in robot hieroglyphic subtitles (which is actually pretty cool,) but feel the need to use English also as soon as Megatron shows up.

- The team that cracks an alien code is made up of stoners and hippies with one really hot blonde chick, becasue we all know signal experts double as runway models.

- The hot blonde scientist, against all logic, decides to illegally copy the information to enlist the "world's greatest Hacker," who is a big huge fat black guy that plays Dance Dance Revolution. Big fat black guy is somehow able to not only decipher said alien signal in like 30 seconds, but also somehow instantly becomes an expert in alien languages. She does all this to great personal risk to her freedom when it is quite possible that said DDR expert could just have been enlisted illegitimately if she just would have asked.

- Immediately after deciphering this advanced signal that the entire NSA and Pentagon are unable to scratch with their advanced supercomputers in mere seconds from his home pc, the FBI suddenly smashes through the house in Gestapo fashion, as if they were able to track the hot scientist's whereabouts simply by the fact that she uses a computer.

- Fat black guy is such teh h4X0r that he is able to somehow take old, dusty WWII era radio equipment with cobwebs all up on it and interface it with a modern PC monitor, all with just a screwdriver in under five minutes.

- Entire city blocks are reduced to rubble in the climatic battle in front of hundreds of witnesses, yet the United States military is somehow able to effectively cover everything up.

- Speaking of said cover up, after the end battle instead of confiscating and studying the alien robot bodies that represent technology thousands of years in advance of our own, the military instead decides to dispose of them all into the the world's deepest ocean trench. Like that would ever happen.

3) The robots are stupid: Don't get me wrong, this movie has quite possibly the best special effects of all time. However all the SFX doesn't change the fact that the Autobots are ridiculous stereotypes. It's when they start talking that the whole illusion is ruined and you remember this movie was written with merchandising in mind. Any line delivered by an Autobot who isn't Optimus Prime is cringeworthy - this includes Ratchet remarking that Sam's pheromone level is such that he wants to "mate with the female" (thereby making an ass out of him in front of the girl yet again, see item #1,) Jazz saying "bitch" and acting all gangsta (ugh!), and Bumblebee "lubricating" the Section 7 agent (shoot me now please.)

The Decepticons on the other hand get zero screen time even though each one is ten times more bad-ass than any of the Autobots combined. Megatron himself gets less than five minutes of screen time - pretty pathetic for the movie's arch villian. Starscream, who is quite possibly the third most recognizable character from the cartoon, gets one measly line, and they didn't even try to make his voice sound the same as the cartoon. Lame.

The one robot that gets the most time in the spotlight is Frenzy, who is not only somehow also able to regrow his entire body after being decapitated, but is also able to casually stroll off of Airforce one in front of hundreds of patrolling soldiers and secret service agents - and no one notices.

4) Reason #4: It didn't have Shockwave in it: How you gonna make a Transformers movie without Shockwave, the baddest Transformer ever? If I was making this movie the whole thing would be Shockwave stomping robot guts out for three hours.

5) The whole movie is one giant propaganda piece for the Department of Defense: I realize when part of your budget is supplied by the United States Military that means they get to approve the way they are depicted in your movie script (see Top Gun and Black Hawk Down.) However here it goes to ridiculous lengths. The Secretary of Defense character - obviously patterned after Donald Rumsfeld, down to the glasses - is depicted as like, actually taking civilian lives and international repercussions into his decision making (HA!) I mean, talking giant robots I can accept, but let's be realistic here.

In another scene with the aforementioned Sector 7 where just as the Decepticons begin their attack on the secret base, the ordinary soldiers from Qatar - for some reason that defies all logic - decide to go mutiny because Sam the horny kid wants to "see his car," even though none of the military characters would have any reason at all to believe at this point that this particular captive giant robot would want to help them at all. It's turns out the whole scene is set up to give the Secretary of Defense the line "You better listen to them, they don't like to lose." Suck, suck, suck that Army dick, Micheal Bay.

Micheal Bay chose to portray the President as a useless imbecile, completely out of the loop, munching on Ding-Dongs while other people make decisions for him. So the movie is not completely unrealistic.

6) The rest of the movie is a commercial for something else: Apparently there was plenty of room left in Micheal Bay's mouth after the DOD got finished. Obviously the Autobots are mere walking commercials for General Motors (Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC, Hummer, etc.) But they're not the only ones, the whole rest of the movie is jammed full of product placements including (in no particular order:)

- Burger King
- Nokia
- Ebay
- Paypal
- Pepsico
- Xbox 360
- Hostess
- Yahoo

This is just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head, which isn't hard considering these placements aren't the subtle, show an ad in the background type from other movies. These ads are in your face - Ebay is mentioned several times by main characters and even has a phony listing take up the whole screen for several seconds. The various cars aren't just shown off, they get more screen time than the robots do in robot form. During the part where the Autobots are looking for vehicles to transform into the movie essentially turns into a smorgasboard of GM commercials, even going as far to show a GMC dealer with prominent showroom.

Why are product placements such a big deal? When done correctly (i.e., not shoved in the audience's face,) I agree that they can sometimes make a movie seem more "real." However when you spend half the damn movie showing various cars and how cool they are and gee these same cars are available for purchase at the dealer across the street, then it quickly becomes apparent you're not actually watching a movie. Product placements are advertisements you actually pay to watch - Watch while you suck, suck, suck on Micheal Bay's commercialized dick, then suck it some more when you buy the DVD, t-shirt, candy bars, action figures, and featured automobile as Bay shoots his load all the way to the bank.

Besides all this the movie ain't half bad.

Hunters are pussies and should be shot

I hate hunters, I hate hunters, I fucking hate hunters. What is this need to blow the brains out of an animal from hundreds of feet away? What is the "need" being fulfilled here? What is the desire that causes people to do this? Is it for food? Is it for the "sport?" Or some kind of arcane mountain man tradition? Bullshit. There is only one reason to go hunting- because you're a sick asshole who gets his jollies off of killing something. Other people may try to dispute that, but they are wrong.

It's obviously not for "food," unless you live so far off in the middle of nowhere that you absolutely must shoot deer and crap to survive - maybe if you're in fucking Africa or something. But in this country your redneck-ass is never more than five miles away from a McDonalds (probably the same one you work at) so don't give me this shit about hunting for "food."

Some people like to delude themselves and pretend that there's no difference between hunting and slaughtering a cow on a farm or something. But once again we see the argument doesn't fly - Cows and chickens are bread to be slaughtered, we make no illusions otherwise. If we let them go into the wild they would starve by the thousands, because we've bred away their natural survival instincts. Wild animals on the other hand are out there minding their own business and would be just fine if we would stop periodically invading their habitats and blowing them away.

"Look here my good man," you may say, "We have to cull the herds because of overpopulation." Ahh, since we killed all the wolves and mountain lions and other wild predators now it's our duty to go out and blow away a bunch of deer to keep them from overgrazing and thus starving to death. True, true, populations must be managed. But we wouldn't have this stupid problem if the fucking rednecks hadn't killed all the predators in the first place. So, how about we start a program to bring back the predators? Reintroduce wolves into these areas, to naturally cull the deer? Set aside wilderness areas where these animals can live? Unlike human beings, animals will find a natural population balance in a given area (eventually.) One guy told me he had to hunt, because he lived off in the middle of the woods, and bears and wild asses and crap would go through his garbage and invade his house from time to time. Know what I say to that? MOVE. Get out of the woods. If you live in an area where there are lions and tigers and bears and shit, then move the fuck out of that area. YOU DO NOT BELONG THERE. I don't see what's so hard to understand.

Around here we have a problem with mountain lions. Every year they encroach a little bit further and build houses and stuff inside the territory of these animals, then everyone complains when the lions come down and start eating neighborhood dogs and kitty cats and everything. But no one ever brings up the fact that this wouldn't happen if people stayed out of the woods where they didn't belong. These animals need space to live, and if we take that away from them then they'll start their own hunting parties in our streets and backyards. It's called "ecological balance" people, that thing the Republicans say they believe in but do everything to destroy.

Then we have the "sporting" aspect. Well, let's think about this: How sporting is it exactly, to take a machine capable of firing bullet with such force as to rip through the body of any organic creature that has evolved on this Earth with lethal force, and then go shoot a little animal from a hundred yards away? That's not a sport, that's target practice. If you want to shoot a gun then go shoot it at a shooting range, don't go snipe a bunch of endangered Red-Footed falcons you fucking assholes. Go shoot at a paper target, not at something that's alive. I submit to you that dunking a basketball, hitting a home run, driving a souped up race car, or even hitting a fucking golf ball is way more "sporting" than taking a high powered rifle and blowing the brains out of a duck or goose or something. You know what? Even a marathon night of Halo 3 is more sporting than that shit. At least then someone is keeping score.

Then you get these backwards shitbags who somehow think that hunting is part of "being a man," like real men have to go out and pown little quails and shit with sniper rifles as part of some dumbass tradition - complete bullshit. If you want to go kill something like a "man," then don't use a gun. Go out there with a Rambo knife. Make a sharpened spear with your own two hands and skewer a deer with it. Go out and face down a 500 lb bull elk caveman-style with a couple of sharpened rocks. It's not a sport unless you're in danger of serious injury - buying a three ton Giant hog then getting your 13 year old son to shoot it on your own land and then passing it off like the kid actually caught it in the wild ain't "sport,"and it ain't teaching him anything except how to be a fucked up, beer-guzzling, wife beating, gas pumping redneck. You want to teach him how to be a "man?" Throw the kid out there Spartan style, butt-naked with a sharpened stick for 30 days and make his ass hunt to survive, that'll make him a man alright. Or better yet, why not buy the kid a laptop instead of a shotgun? You know, get him an education so he can actually make something of himself and not have to kill shit to feel like he belongs? Being a "man" is about learning responsibility and making a living, not shooting a fucking giant pig then passing it off like a "hunt."

Do you use credit cards? Are you a recent college graduate? Are you between the ages of 18 to 35? If so, chances are you've got a healthy amount of debt. Don't feel bad; The national average is around $8,000 per person, although truth is most people probably have a lot more, in fact I don't think I know one person with less than ten grand to pay off, not friends, family, no one. Except myself that is; It took me five years of living like a pauper but I finally paid it all off and now I get to live free. Read on if you want to live free too.

First step is Get rid of your credit cards: Cancel them, cut them in half, never use them again. Credit cards are the number one reason why so many people are in such ridiculous debt. Thing is they're designed to get you to max them out so you end up spending way more than you could ever actually pay off. They present them in such a way that people think they're getting free money, when in fact what is going on is when you use them you're spending your money that you have not earned yet in the present. Thus, the more you use them, the greater your debt becomes, the less of your money you get to spend in the future. They do this on purpose. They lure people in with low interest rates under some false illusion that it'll always be that way, then after a certain amount of time the rate shoots up to to 29% or whatever ridiculous level it's at now. Add to this all the other bullshit charges they throw on there when you're not looking, late fees, annual fees, your-momma-says-you-ugly-fees, etc. American Express actually tried to charge me $20 "Processing Fee" during a month when I didn't spend anything on the card, almost like a "Privilege of owning the card" fee. Then you notice that the minimum monthly payment is actually less than the interest rate - so in fact you end up owing them for the rest of your life, and if you follow their rules you'll never ever pay it off.

As far as I'm concerned it's all part of a highly sophisticated confidence scam. They prey on college kids and young adults who don't have much experience with this sort of thing, get them to spend away their future, then own them their entire lives so for years and years they end up paying thousands of dollars in interest on shit they don't even remember anymore. I got my first Credit card when I was 19 while in college, because the guy that was running the table was giving away free Slinkys to anyone who signs up. I didn't even want the card, I wanted the free toy (because Slinkys are cool.) Nowadays they even give them to children as young as 16 who don't even have jobs, as long as they have a bank account. Nice way of making financial slaves out of America's young people.

Well fuck that! Don't use them! I know it's hard to do, it's almost like we as a population have been conditioned into thinking paying 29% a year on a bag of potato chips is an acceptable thing. It's one thing to buy a new computer or some other expensive, big ticket item that you otherwise could not afford and then pay it off religiously, but most people don't use credit cards that way. Some people have gotten into such a hole that they depend on their credit cards to buy essentials: Gasoline, groceries, medicine, etc, and it may not be so easy for them to stop.

Well, how bad do you want to get rid of your debt? Do you want half your paycheck to go to paying stupid credit card bills for the rest of your damn life, or do you want to take control and do what you want with your money? If you're carrying a large amount of debt the only way you'll ever pay it off is to go without for the time being. Sorry, but that's how it is. There's no easy way to get out of it, it's going to take a lot of work, a lot of sacrifice, and a long, long time, but in the end it will be worth it.

First off you're never going to get rid of that debt if it keeps growing by 29% every month. So cancel all of the cards, ALL of them, so that way you stop incurring interest. Some companies however don't allow this and will keep charging you interest anyway (some of them like Sumitomo, American Express, or God Forbid, Cross Country Bank are real assholes about it) in that case then transfer the balance to a different card with a lower interest rate. You can also call the companies and politely ask for a lower interest rate, especially if it's a card you're had for a long time and don't have any late payments on. Pull the "Dissatisfied Customer" routine, and start quoting rates from other companies, they'll cave in (It's also a good idea to call and dispute any weird fee you see on there, half the time you can get them to take those off also.) The goal is to keep your interest rate to a low level so you're able to pay off the card faster than the interest incurs. Once this is accomplished sit down and figure out budget, a real budget that allows for emergencies and such, and find out exactly how much you can pay every month.

Now this is the hard part: Actually pay them off. Stick to it, choose the card with the smallest balance and pay it off completely, then work your way up the line until you've only got the card with the largest balance left. Thing is as you pay off each card then that much more of your monthly income is freed up, whereupon you can either save this extra cash or throw it in with your payments to get it down that much quicker. Also as the cards get paid off you may find that suddenly your credit score will increase by leaps and bounds, and you start getting credit card offers in the mail nearly daily. These companies are like wolves, they can smell your extra disposable income. Do not give it to them. Resist the temptation and throw those offers away.

Now let's fast forward a few years and assume you've managed to get it down to the one or two cards with the largest balance. Go to your bank and take out a personal loan, then pay off the largest cards in one fell swoop. If you've been sticking to your plan your credit should be good enough now to do this. This way you'll be paying a livable 5% to the bank instead of 29% to the stupid thieving credit card company. And you'll notice that a bank loan actually goes down every month when you pay it and is actually something that you can pay off within the foreseeable future.

That is essentially what I did to get out of debt. In my own case I was nearly $10,000 in the hole, I paid it down to the last card with a $3,000 balance, took out a loan for that, and had the loan paid off within two years. Yes it took five years of my life being totally broke and not having any fun with my money, but today I actually get to spend my paycheck in the way I see fit. Yeah, I'm not rich, in fact I'm at the lower end of a middle class income, but I'm not living like a pauper. Since I'm not shelling out half my paycheck to these thieves suddenly I've found myself with all kinds of purchasing power that I just didn't have before. I've bought a new car, kept a decent computer going with new stuff now and then, bought a nice 40 inch plasma flat screen TV, and I'm able to keep a month's pay with expenses in the bank. Last year I applied for an apartment and got accepted ahead of four other people because since I paid off all the cards my credit is fantastic. All of this without credit cards.

You can do it too, all it takes is some determination. Take control of your life, throw out the credit cards. Do you want them to own you forever?

Why won't white people shut up about illegal aliens?

Since when did the most important issue in the entire country suddenly become stopping illegal aliens? Did I fall asleep for a few decades and miss something? Last time I checked these people had been coming here for years, and contrary to what you hear on Clearchannel owned radio stations for the most part all they do is work (a lot harder than white people who have the same jobs do I might add, and I know that from personal experience.) Fact is all of this anti-illegal alien hubbub comes out of hate mongering racists groups, of which the right wing takes advantage of for their own ends. It's been that way for years, and this current debate over the latest immigration bill is no different.

Some people out there would take issue with that last statement, but I beg to differ. If you listen to the ring wing pundits or visit websites like Save our State you'll see the same arguments that come right out of the Klu Klux Klan, with less offensive language of course. Let's take a look at some of the arguments the Minutemen crowd uses to promote wacky ideas like building a 700 mile fence or putting land mines on the border:

1) Illegal immigrants take jobs from Americans
2) Illegals end up costing us money through using our social programs (health care, education, etc.)
3) Illegals spread crime and gang violence
4) Open borders allow "Other Than Mexicans" in enter, which could include terrorists
5) The current wave of illegals is part of a "Reconquista" conspiracy to take back lands lost in the Mexican-American war (not making this up.)

1) Illegal immigrants take jobs from Americans: Bullshit. First off any economist will tell you that the job market for an area will expand as the population for an area increases. More people means more demand for goods and services, thus more jobs. That's how capitalism works. You lose jobs when the corporation that owns the local factory packs up and decides to move to South America or China, i.e. when a lot of jobs are lost at once. Situations like that lead to entire areas folding up shop and turning into ghost towns. But no community in the country has ever been "decimated" by an influx of immigrants, if anything the local economy only benefits.
Let's also be realistic about what kind of jobs we're talking about here - We aren't talking about an illegal alien sneaking over the border and taking an $80,000 a year vice president position away from you. The jobs these people do are crap jobs. Picking strawberries. Doing laundry. Washing dishes. Cleaning toilets. Washing cars. Day labor. Jobs that are done for minimum wage, lower in some instances. Jobs that Americans do not want, and if you don't think so just look at Colorado.

What these racist bastards forget to tell you is that our economy needs this pool of cheap labor to function. You can't pay someone who picks vegetables $17 bucks an hour with benefits, else your cabbages are gonna cost $50 a head. Why do you think they're even bothering to write an immigration bill in the first place? Because the thieves in Washington know we need these people. Do you really think the senate or the president gives a shit about illegal aliens? Hell no. But they know we need the cheap labor, and they know Americans won't do these jobs.

2) Illegals end up costing us money through using our social programs (health care, education, etc.): Bullshit. We have no social programs anymore. Thanks to that dumbass president you assholes elected and his cadre of oligarchs there is no "safety net" in this country worth a fuck. Good job shitheads.

Or maybe you're talking about "public schools" as a social program, (since when did that happen?) True, we will have to pay more for the extra population. However, since these people will be legal, then that means we will legally have added tax revenue, thus any increased public expenditures will be offset. According to the John and Ken show (who are two L.A. radio personalities who won't shut the hell up about illegal aliens, day in and day out. Talk about staying on message,) even those two assholes had to admit on the air that we'll see a net gain of $8 billion dollars to our economy over the next decade. So there.

3) Illegals spread crime and gang violence: You're kidding, right? I find that people who say baloney like this usually tend to live in areas where there is not a significant Latino minority population, Orange County for instance. Truth is crime levels are on the decline in most parts of the country, have been for years. Search FBI.gov if you don't believe me. The public perception of such crimes however has increased. Thanks to the damn media you'd think our country was being overrun by drug dealers, kidnappings, and car jackings, but it's just not true.

Even here in Los Angeles, which is on the front line of the immigration "problem," violent crime has remained at about the same level as it's always been. True there are parts of the city I wouldn't walk around in at night, but it's always been that way. I can tell you that it's a lot better than it was fifteen years ago - you don't see the same kind of gang activity in the inner city that you did in the early 90s. Oh the gangs are still there, but they're not wasting their time mugging people and knocking over liquor stores (for the most part.) They're doing stuff that makes them real money, like selling drugs. And when they do kill people it tends to be each other, which is fine by me.

Which brings me to the "cross border gangs" angle. Hmmm... well this is a problem. There are gangs sheltered in border towns that regularly smuggle drugs and people back and forth. However, I submit that such gangs really could give a shit about whether or not they have a green card. In fact I would say that this particular problem has nothing to do with an immigration bill. If you want to stop the drug smuggling, then get the cops to go after the drug smugglers. Infiltrate the gangs. Shoot down those cocaine smuggling planes on sight. Find those cross border tunnels and seal that shit up. But don't waste time raiding your local Mexican restaurant looking for drug mules, because you won't find them.

4) Open borders allow "Other Than Mexicans" in enter, which could include terrorists: First off, who said anything about opening the borders? The border is patrolled by an army of cops and immigration officers, too many people want them there, and since this is a democracy then fine, we have to allow it. I won't even complain about that ridiculous 700 mile fence idea (even though I know it won't work.) If you right wingers want to delude yourselves into thinking that'll stop these people and make the country safer then who am I to interfere. But I submit to you that all of the hijackers responsible for the 9-11 attacks were all here on legal visas, none of them snuck over the border disguised as a day laborer.

Is that kind of thing happening now? Is there really an army of Al Queda operatives swimming over the Rio Grande? I don't know. The only sources I can find for such "terrorist activity" come from ultra-right wing websites which I tend to hold as unreliable. Usually when a site like Save our State or the minutemen claims something like this it turns out to be bullshit. But one would think that this would be a reason to support immigration legislation even more, precisely for the reason that it allows us to screen those coming over legally. Then if we actually catch someone crawling through the sewers, we can process them way more efficiently. Just seems to make sense to me.

I just cannot take this shit seriously. I know you've heard some racist fuck utter this inane bullshit before: The "conspiracy" is that all of the Latinos are coming over here in order to one day "breed us out," so that eventually they'll have a majority in our country and will vote the western half of the United States back into Mexico. They call it the "Aztlan" theory, based off of the writings of one insignificant Mexican revolutionary group in the 60's. Sorry, but that's the biggest steaming load of horsehit I've ever heard. It's like saying all black people want to overthrow the government because of the Black Panthers or something. Total fucking crap, and anyone who believes it is a moron.

Thing is you hear this same kind of "out-breed them" crap all over the place, about nearly every minority group. Christian preachers are saying this about Muslims, that they're going to overtake us in America by their high birth rates and turn America into a Islamic Fascist country. Five years ago they were saying the same thing was going on in Europe. A hundred years ago they were saying this about the Chinese - that they'll breed like flies and take over the country, that they live off an egg and a bowl of rice a day and there's no way an honest white man can compete with them. It's all racist bullshit that came straight out of the Klan, and it's only there to divide people. It's what happens when white people get scared.

There is an immigration problem, and some of the questions these people raise may be valid. Illegals in the country right now are exploited on a daily basis and should have the same protections everyone else has. Drug smugglers and organized crime perforate though our border with their little packages like it was swiss cheese. I'll even give them that there is a possibility that very bad people may be sneaking over the southern border, planning to do dastardly things involving large explosions and loss of life. But don't try to tell me Paco the busboy is responsible for this. All he wants to do is better his life, you know, that thing that people come to America for. Or did you forget that?

1)Overpriced health food stores - Why is it when you go to a "healthy" grocery store like Whole Foods or Trader Joes, everything you buy is twice as small and costs three times as much? I can understand fruit and vegetables, but soap? Canned soup? Crackers? Screw these places.

2) Anti-trendy people who think they define the counter culture - The idea that the music you listen to or how you dress makes you "cool" is pretty lame, but some people never seem to outgrow this attitude. For example, everyone respects Marylin Manson for his highly intelligent views on various issues, yet no one will be caught dead actually listening to his music for fear of looking like a "poser." Same deal with these "pure" death metal people who refuse to listen to anything with electronic instruments (keyboards, samples, etc.) You would think most people would outgrow this baloney once they grow up and start working for a living, but they don't. Such hypocritical, immature, shallow, illogical bullshit. Like what you listen to means jack shit to anyone, or ever really did in the first place.

3) Women who get drunk and all flirty but the next day become all embarrassed and stand offish - If I didn't respect women like 99% of all other males out there I would probably get laid way more often.

4) Flash based web advertisements that open up and cover the whole screen - Since they're flash based they usually get past the pop-up blocker. Then they make the "X" to turn them off all small and in the wrong place, so half the time you accidentally click the ad itself and get redirected. There otta be a law.

5) People who parrot shit they read on reactionary blogs like it actually means something: So many examples of this, so many... One thing I hear all the time is that "Liberals lack substantive thought" in their arguments. What the hell do these bastards mean by this particular piece of doublespeak anyway? What, like a thought that "means nothing?" Bullshit. Here's what a non-substantive thought looks like:

6) When you wash your car and a bird shits on it the next day - I realise there is a problem when a random act of nature compels me to scream obscenities out loud to no one in particular, but goddammit I just washed this thing. Fucking birds.

7) When the girl you never stopped loving a few years back dumps her current boyfriend and comes back to visit and you know something could happen if you just had the chance, but then she goes back to northern California and gets another boyfriend within three weeks: You know, I've pretty much surrendered to the fact that I'll never ever be with this girl, but dammit it still sucks...

8) When all the collectibles you spent the last decade accumulating are practically worthless - I enjoy status in a small subspecies of geekdom, that of "collector" (or Comic book geek, whichever you prefer.) Right now I'm in the process of cleaning out all of my superfluous possessions (comics, games, etc.) It's astounding how much crap you can accumulate over a lifetime. However it seems like all the junk I want to get rid of is worthless, and the things I do have that are worth something happen to be things I want to hang onto for other reasons. You just can't win sometimes.

9) When you're the only one of your friends who has a real job: No one can hang out on Friday night because they're all working, and when they do have time off it's during regular business hours. No I can't go see your band perform at two in the afternoon on Tuesday. Can I help it if I work at a place that pays more than minimum wage?

10) Websites that redirect you back when you try to navigate away from them: Out of all the annoying shit out there in badly-designed website land I despise this the most. You all know what I'm talking about - You go to a web page, see that what you want is not there, then as you hit the back button the website automatically redirects you to their own home page, forcing you to either open a whole new browser window or rapidly hit the back button to try and get past it. I refuse to patronise any site with this bullshit feature, and anyone who implements it in their site deserves nothing less than death. Instant death in the most painful way imaginable.

Why do Christians love abortion?

Longtime readers of my little rants (as if there are such people. If you are one of them, I pity you) know how much I used to relish making fun of the Christians out there in wacky land. It's not just them, I enjoy persecuting overly religious people in general. However over the last few years I've somewhat relaxed a bit in my attitudes, if I really want people to live and let live, the best way to show it is by practicing it. Who am I to tell people what to believe, what right do I have to insult the beliefs of others?

And really, who gives a shit?

Well, they do, the Evangelical Christians. They give a lot of shits. And thus when two people argue and one gives a shit while the other doesn't, the one who does wins by default. Case in point, the recent Supreme Court decision to uphold the 2003 partial birth abortion ban. I'm sure all of you were paying attention to this, it's hard sometimes when the corporate tabloid news media is busy exploiting sensational school shooter stories to see that there are in fact other things going on in the world, some of which might be important.

I won't go over the rights and wrongs of partial birth abortion - or a second term abortion done during a time when a fetus is quickly approaching the age where it might, just maybe, be able to survive outside of the mother's body by being hooked up to all kinds of machines and shit and growing up all deformed into a self-conscious mentally ill adult who can't get over the fact that it's mother didn't want it. Believe what you want to believe, I'm not here to dispute that. But it just seems to me that the whole big stink over whether or not you should be allowed to kill your unborn child is a big time waster, an issue used to distract us from other important issues, and is, in fact, bullshit.

A little background here - When I was in utero the doctors found a cyst on one of my mother's ovaries. During the removal process there was a 50-50 chance that, in order to save the life of the mother, they may have had to abort the fetus, which was ME. Was it divine intervention that saved me? I would like to think so. But I also know it's just as likely that I simply got lucky. When your birth had the same chance of success as the results of a coin toss it tends to put this issue into perspective for you. I am glad I was born, but also I would not blame my mother for aborting me if her life was threatened. Would you throw yourself in front of a train to save your mother? Some people would, some people would not. If you're one of the people who is not an asshole and actually would save your mother then by logical extension you must be in favor of abortion. When that decision comes, your life or your unborn child's, you cannot blame anyone for choosing to preserve themselves. Yes it would be nice if everyone was selfless, but that's some other planet. On planet Earth self preservation comes first, then preservation of your offspring.

I would just like to add that there does not have to be an actual risk of death for a pregnancy to threaten the mother's life. Having a kid can not just be inconvenient, it can thoroughly destroy your life in a very real sense. Is it right to ask a woman to turn her entire life around, put her aspirations and dreams on hold (possibly forever,) and force her to take on unwanted responsibility? What if the kid is 16, is it right to force her to carry the child and possibility destroy her entire existence in the process? How many of you women out there has this happened to? Yeah, I'm sure you love your children and wouldn't want it any other way. But there is that feeling that your life may have been vastly different if you made a different decision. Can you truly blame someone for making that choice?

Oh, you religious people don't think so? You think when the time comes to make this choice you'll selflessly stand up and choose to go through with it, even though the pregnancy may potentially kill or ruin you? Bullshit. Let's just look at a few statistics here (because once again, some of you dumbasses don't believe anything without a number behind it.) According to this site (The Center For Bioethical Reform, which is an Anti-abortion site, in case any of you think I'm being biased here) it looks like 37% of abortions are obtained by protestants and 31% by Catholics, and 18% by Evangelicals. If we combine these three groups under the umbrella of "Christians," which is what they are, that brings the total to 86%. Thus Christian women, the people who are telling us all not to get abortions, are in fact the people who get the vast majority of actual abortions. So what does this mean exactly? It means that going to church, voting Republican, and believing in God doesn't stop people from fucking. So apparently you're all just talk, because when it comes down to it most of you go "pro-choice" in an instant. You don't like the fact that people kill their unborn children, fine. Stop getting fucking abortions then. And don't go around saying it's the Godless atheist people who need help, because according to that very same site only 23% of women who get abortions describe themselves as such, way less than you religious people. Just another example of you hypocritical double-speaking bastards trying to force behavior on us that you don't follow yourselves.

They also say 43% of all women in the USA will have one by age 45. Hmmm... I've got a feeling that number should be up there towards 80%. Chances are you know two or three women who have had one, even a few in your very own family. Truth is we'll probably never know the exact numbers because of the damn stigma you religious people out there insist of attaching to abortion many women out there keep it a secret. Remember the only people who give a shit about this is YOU (the religious people,) you're the ones walking around holding the signs with the dead babies on them and throwing blood on people. Thanks a lot for all the fucking shame you assholes. Way to kick an emotionally defenseless woman when she's down. And you wonder why Church attendance is on the wane across the nation.

The truth is you can't stop it. Women have always done it, and they always will, whether it's legal or not. By making it illegal all you will do is force it underground and possibly ruin a few more lives in the process. Why do you think you religious people get so much opposition to all of your little political pet projects? Because it seems like everything you people are into, everything you want the rest of us to follow, anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, pro-blowing up the middle east, anti-environment, all of it seems to be directly involved in making life miserable for everyone. Well fuck that, we don't want to be miserable. We want to live in the land of the fucking free, where we don't have to listen to people like that, where we get to do what we fucking want, whenever we fucking feel like it. Isn't that what being FREE is all about, doing what you want when you feel like it? So stop standing in the way of freedom. Live how you want, make your own choice. Somebody Else's Problem at Virgina Tech

You know, we all talk a lot of shit on a day to day basis. In any particular conversation, any one of us may say something to the effect of "I am going to kill the next person who blah blah blah--" or "I hate that guy so much I'm going to fucking blow his brains out," etc. Violent idioms are a common part of our language. On a daily basis we bombard ourselves with violent imagery, we watch incredibly violent movies, play video games where people get run over, eaten by hideous monsters, shot in the face, etc, and of course the nightly news is filled with the effects of violence in our lives and society. But when something like this massacre occurs we still get pretty horrified at it, we still can't understand how and exactly why someone would do such a thing.

The resulting media firestorm from this tragedy reminds me a lot of Micheal Moore's 2002 film Bowling for Columbine, so I watched it with this latest event in mind. If you haven't seen it lately you can basically take the word Columbine out and put Virginia Tech in, it relates rather well to the situation at hand. In the film Moore asks why exactly this type of thing happens here in the United States and not in other countries that have similar violent histories, exploitative media, crime, poverty, and repressed youth that we have here. Besides falling just short of calling America fundamentally fucked up He doesn't really come up with an answer. Whenever something like this happens nobody seems to know.

Well, I'll tell you what the problem is. There is a really good reason why we get things like school massacres and random acts of extreme violence here, and this is it: It's becasue compassion has no place in America. Our society rewards people who take what they want no matter who gets hurt. To us, if you're poor or disadvantaged, then somehow that's your fault. It's that cutthroat competitive undercurrent that drives everything we do, that we can look at a starving guy sleeping next to a dumpster and not give a shit, we can drive to our jobs and shop at the stupid mall while the fruits of our economy go to killing people half a world away.

What, you don't think people are this heartless? How many times have you heard someone complain about homeless people, the "Don't give them money" speech when you see a guy begging with a cardboard sign. How many of you have thought that yourselves? I have; I've walked by a dirty bum and been repulsed by him. We all have. It's in our nature. The travesty that we allow people to live like that in the first place doesn't even enter our minds. It's Somebody Else's Problem, and even if I want to do something about it I can't, so fuck it. It's who we are as a nation, don't try to deny it.

We live blissfully ignorant of the true evil that goes on around us on a daily basis. It's not just poor and oppressed people. It's in the extremely superficial way we treat each other. What was wrong with Cho Seung-Hui, what was it that made him flip out and kill all those people? He had no friends. I know it and I don't even have to read the stupid news reports. He had no friends and probably got fucked with all the time, probably hadn't gotten laid in quite a while, probably had the idea that he was going to end up washing other people's clothes just like his parents, just had no hope that anything in his pathetic life would change, ever. Because that's the same problem that ALL of these people have whenever something like this happens, but you're never going to hear about it becasue the news people always gloss over this particular angle of the story.

Our society crushes itself and by extension crushes the individual, or a better way of putting it, in order to survive in such a socitey the individual must adapt by banding together and crushing others. In such a society someone always looses. Once Cho was branded a "loser" by his peers he never had a chance. Truth is most of us are able to weather this effect. At a national level our society may be sick beyond repair, but at a microcosmic level we Americans do a pretty good job of comming together. Our communities are probably more tightly knit than anywhere else in the world. But this example shows that there are some people who slip through the cracks. When "losers" get desperate and get a hold of guns, this is what happens, because nobody cares about them.

You know, all it takes to stop this kind of shit is to try being nice to people for a change, stop living in fear of everything, and quit assuming that everyone who doesn't look like you is going to kill or rob you. Fat chance of that happening. So every couple of years expect to see another random shooting, another misplaced tragic massacre, becasue it's who we are, as a people. It's my fault, it's our fault, so own up to it because it's your fault too. Is there anything we can do about it? I don't know. For now it'll probably continue to be Somebody Else's Problem

1) People who use the off ramp lane to cut ahead of you in traffic - What the fuck is your problem? Where is it that's so important you have to be by weaving in and out of traffic like a psychopath? In the meantime you put my fucking life in danger to shave two and a half nanoseconds. Ridiculous.

2) People who treat the next big game system like it's the second coming of Christ - You seen these videos of people rioting to get a stupid Playstation 3? People getting trampled, even shot in some instances? Goddamn people, it's a fucking GAME SYSTEM! You play fucking video games on it! It's not like your heart is gonna explode if you don't get one at 12:01 a.m. on fucking release day! They'll have some more next week, chill the fuck out already. God people are stupid.

3) People who take too much damn salsa - You've seen these assholes, you go into a Baja Fresh or other Mexican-type restaurant where they have the salsa bar and there's always some gluttonous bastard who has to take like 17 cups of the shit. You gonna eat that all yourself you fat fuck? Look, I know they're giving the stuff away free but Jesus people, don't fucking over do it. Same thing when people take all the sugar and Equal packets at a burger joint. It's not like salt and sugar are precious fucking commodities. Do you people even use this stuff? Or are you taking it just to be an asshole? Why do people do shit like this, because it's "Free?" Next person I see filling up a Sparklets bottle with free salsa gets a free foot in their ass.

4) Ann Coulter - Do people actually take this dried up cuntbag seriously? First time I heard of her was a few years ago in connection to an article where someone witnessed a practice run by terrorists in an airplane, apparently there were men getting up and assembling a bomb in the bathroom. Too bad the whole story turned out to be complete bullshit but it did get her on the media map for real. Now she's become yet another right-wing bag of wacky nuts, always shouting how "liberals" are destroying our democracy. After the last election in which the Republicans got ass-stomped this woman advocated bringing back the poll tax. Yeah that's democracy for ya.

5) DVDs that don't say they are full screen on the front cover - You buy a brand spanking new copy of some cool movie you've wanted to see for a long time only to get it home and find out it's been given the fucking pan-and-scan treatment. It cuts off half the damn screen, when I pay $19.95 for a new damn movie I expect to see the whole fucking thing. Why are they still making movies like this? Because some old lady out there is too cheap to buy a new TV? So I gotta suffer because of one small segment of the population that is afraid to adapt to new technology? Then you try to take it back to the store but they refuse to exchange it because it's an open item. Fucking bullshit.

6) When the girl you used to love a few years ago and who you thought really loved you but moved off to northern California with another guy dumps her fiance, but stays in northern California while her Ex moves back to your town instead of the other way around - Don't worry, I'm not going to kill myself. It just sucks.

7) People who think Star Wars is real: It's a movie people, it's make believe, it's not real life. Just because you walk around in a robe doesn't mean the government has to officially recognize you as a Jedi. Sad thing is I'm not making this shit up.

8) When you accidently cut a tonail just a little too deep - Ouch.

9) When some greedy fucking asshole drinks all the coffee in the break room and doesn't make any more - I now work in an office for a fortune 500 company (in the lowest paid position there is, but what the hell. At least I'm not slinging a cash register anymore.) Like most offices for companies that are not completely evil they supply free coffee for their subjects. But without fail at 9:00 every morning somebody drinks all of the fucking coffee and just leaves the empty pot sizzling there. How much time does it take to throw a new pot of coffee on? Like two and a half seconds. Have some common decency, the stupid end of the month reports can wait. I cannot function in this corporate hellhole job without a steady supply of liquid stimulant. Not only that, they also leave sugar and coffee creamer all over the counter. Clean that shit up dammit! If you leave sugar laying around we're gonna get ANTS up in here!

10) Sony, the entire fucking company and everyone in it - Last year I said Fuck Sony because they gave us a raw deal with the PSP. Now it seems Sony is full of so many greedy fucking scumbags they just sued small time Hong Kong importer Lik-Sang out of existence. I just happened to be a Lik-Sang affiliate. So in addition to making them look like assholes, Sony shutting them down has also personally cost me money in lost referrals and time as now I have to remove all the affiliate links from my pages. Thanks a lot fucking Sony. Let me show you how much I care by buying the new Nintendo system instead of your overpriced piece of shit this Christmas.

I have no illusions about this victory; I know that the Democrats didn't win this election, the Republicans lost. This election is about throwing the scandal ridden-thieves out of power and for the most part the new thieves that have taken their place don't have that much better of a track record. It's just sickening to see that it takes things to get as bad as they are before people finally turn off American Idol long enough to notice. I mean come on people! We've got two hopeless wars going on that are sucking away our Gross National Product while at the same time hospitals are closing all over the country. We've got a planet turning into a radioactive waste dump under our feet, the fucking oceans are dying, you won't be able to eat any fish in forty years because there fucking won't be any, the goddamn hole in the ozone layer is the size of the United States for crying out loud, the fucking icecaps are melting so fast that various countries are fighting over shipping lanes in the Arctic, we have countries in the Middle East scrambling to build nuclear bombs in part to defend themselves from US, yet at the same time we're supposed to be fighting international terrorism by invading the one secular Middle Eastern country that actually suppressed such terrorism, our fucking Bill Of Rights is in the goddamn toilet.. all of this has been going on for years, and just now people are starting to realize it. Well better late then never I suppose. Let this be a lesson to you America, shit does not just go away when you turn the channel. At least now there's hope for the first time in six years, hope that this Neoconservative nightmare can finally come to an end and we can start putting the country and the world back together again.

Of course all of my conservative wack-job comedy generators out there in internet land don't think so. Shit, the Fox News website doesn't even have the national totals up on their site, as if by hiding this information they can prevent the shitcanning of their heroes. The mood around the various conservative boards I frequent to taunt people is of general defeat, denial, and rage. More than once I've heard "Get ready for the next terrorist attack," like somehow just electing a Democrat is going to cause a bomb to spontaneously generate in the White House.
